Update: As far as book deletion goes, I just figured out that I was looking at the "ALL" option and not the downloaded option. In my mind, "All" is an odd default selection.
One mystery solved. But all Amazon device management page says, is that I own a Paperwhite, no mention of the generation.

Update 2: I googled the conversion from MB to GB and found a page that does the conversion, and it gave me the same results as my own math. 3.004 GB. I'm beginning to believe this device is a PW3. Maybe this is why I'm so pleased with the device.

Thanks for that link! It was very informative. My device starts with "B017".
Apparently, I have a 4 GB PW2 wireless model. However, my device does NOT have wireless.

I wonder if these devices failed QC for wireless capability, and were flashed with the WiFi only OS. In which case, I wonder what will happen when an OS upgrade occurs (or will it even upgrade at all?)

How did you register it?
Didn't you have to connect it to the Internet when you got it to register it?

Yes, it is a wifi only device not a 3g wireless device. I speculate that it has the 3g circuitry in it. I don't know that, of course, but that is the only explanation I can come up with for me having a a 4 GB PW2.

No - your s/n is correct - B017 is a 4GB wireless (i.e., wifi) only device for the US (Kindle PaperWhite 2 (2013) WiFi (4GB) (U.S., Intl.)) - if it had 3G circuitry, your s/n would have been B062 or 9062 which would be Kindle PaperWhite 2 (2013) 3G + WiFi (4GB) (U.S.)
