Maybe she got stuck in the toilet because hubby left the seat up and went on a fishing trip.
*saw that one on Untold Stories of the ER.

MR does have a mobile interface. (Reach it by going to mobileread.mobi instead of mobileread.com)

It's a bit of an annoyance here - there are a few posters who post through it. When I get an email notification of a post in a forum I'm following from such a poster, clicking the link in email takes me to the mobile version. Since I normally participate from my desktop on a big screen monitor, I need to update the address in the URL bar to be mobileread.com instead of mobileread.mobi and reload the page to restore sanity.

I have a 7" Android tablet. I use software that can force a screen orientation by app when required, and things like browsers are always landscape.

My annoyance is on screen virtual keyboards. I replaced the default Google keyboard with the open source Hacker's Keyboard which is a far better fit for my usage, but use is strictly "in a pinch". For any extended text entry I want a real physical KB. The case for my tablet includes one that plugs in via USB, and I have a larger keyboard I can plug in via an OTG adapter.

(The tablet has Bluetooth, but I don't have a BT keyboard, and Bluetooth is kept off to save battery.)

If I need to do extensive typing, I do have a Bluetooth keyboard. I wish it worked with my laptop. I tend to keep BT and location turned off.

Why can't it work with the laptop? Even it doesn't have BT built in, adapters are only a couple of dollars.

Any woman that denies she has ever sat down and unexpectedly encountered the rim, rather than the seat, is fibbing. We've all done it. (Or, rather, our husbands or lovers or male relatives had thoughtlessly left it up...) I had two nasty bruises, from stumbling into the WC one night, asleep, and plopping my keister down--only to encounter the rim, not the seat. (Last time it happened, too). As I'm a bit boney in that neck of the woods, I had two really nice bruises rigth there in the thigh-hip area. THEN, of course, there's the idiotic waving your arms around to keep your balance and raising yourself up, situation.

SUCH fun. (NOT).

Spoiler:
And before some guy says, "why should WE have to put the seat down?," it's because we're NOT the ones peeing all over the place. As it's your pee, you can put the damned seat down. If you took care with your aim, you wouldn't even need to put the seat up, would you?

I'm still saying it.

What is that with women, always complaining about leaving the toilet seat up? It's a matter of perspective. Men could complain about always leaving the toilet seat down

Better still, a real man isn't afraid to sit down on a normal toilet. Actually, it is quite necessary if you have a toilet with a plateau (how's that called in English? The one where your stuff actually stays put until you flush), because you'll not only splatter the bathroom, but probably yourself as well.

As I said, it's not women who pee all over everything. 'Nuff said. If you're a very neat pee-er, great for you, but you're in the minority. And, yes, I've lived with or around enough males to say that. (Try the North Slope, in AK, sometime, if you want a graphic representation of the difference in toilet habits.)

Honestly, I'm afraid to ask. If some flushing action is spraying your nethers with effluvia, and would spray the room with it, if your nethers weren't parked there....well. I think the less thought about that, the better. Man, talk about needing a bidet!

I don't get it.

Toilet seats are gender-neutral, AFAIC, because both sexes put the lid down when they're done, before they flush. Even-Steven, or Stephanie as the case may be.

Here are some reasons the lid is always down except on use:

It means someone who spatters when they wash their hands or dries off after a shower doesn't get the seat wet, very nasty for the next person whose bare bottom comes into contact and it leads to all sorts of dire thoughts.

If you drop something, it doesn't fall into the toilet water.

Pets can't drink from it.

It looks better; you don't leave drawers and cabinet doors gaping open, do you?

And finally, and the reason for the italics above, putting the lid down before flushing helps contain the germs that spew into the air at the rush of water into the bowl. Ugh, and when I think of how many people have their toothbrushes on the vanity next to the toilet! That goes in your mouth, people!

So in the name of equality and health, I implore you: Put that lid down. It's there for a reason.

Oh and to Katsunami, don't men have to sit about half the time anyway?
