I have the page turn thingies turned off on my Voyage. Not because of accidents. They really do work well. I just never remember to use them. I'm too used to swiping. I do turn Page Press on now and then to give it another try. It doesn't usually lead to accidents but i'll use them once or twice and then forget about them. Sometimes it's a couple weeks later that I realize they're on. The other unique feature of the Voyage is the self adjusting light. I also keep that turned off. I tried it when I first got it but I move around sometimes when reading and it was always changing on me and it never did seem quite right. I turned that off, set it where I like it and I've rarely felt a need to change it. I don't read much in the dark. If I did I might change it for that. Barry Barry |

I forgot about the self adjusting light on the Voyage that Barry mentioned. I didn't like it at first--because as Barry mentioned it seemed to keep changing when I didn't want it to. But, I kept using it for awhile and now really like it. I think it "learned" my preferences--because now the adjustments it makes are right for the lighting conditions, and I very rarely manually have to adjust the brightness. I can't say the same for my Kobo Aura One--I did end up turning off the auto light adjustment feature on that. Never could get the auto light feature to work sensibly on the Kobo. Other than that, I really like my Kobo Aura One. Glad I don't have to choose between the Aura One and the Voyage, because it would be an awfully tough decision for me! |

I suggest the PW3 with the White Bezel... they seem to have nice Blue lights easy on the eyes! & nice new Amazon Font that makes the works Bold Black that Pop out at you.

It's a matter of personal preference. Most people who have ever used a Voyage seem to like it. There have been several posters here on MR who tried an Oasis and disliked it, so I don't recommend buying an Oasis without trying it out first. As for me, I like both my Oasis and my Voyage and switch between them. The Oasis is more comfortable to hold (I read without the cover), but the Voyage has slightly better contrast and whiter screen. Again, that's my personal experience and there are certainly lots of people who disagree. I've never owned a Paperwhite, so I cannot say anything about it. |

This is a negative for me, and why I don't like readers with a white bezel. I find they accentuate any blue tinge to the light (which they all have), and make the background appear more grey when the light is off. That said, I'm not a huge fan of a very yellow tinted light either.

Now that I've enjoyed my PW till it started showing these lines and blurred writing on the bottom half I decided to look into it. Obviously what others post are their own opinions and thus subjective. But this helps to weigh the pros and cons of each device.

I had the 1st PW, and the 2nd PW until I returned it. I currently have the Voyage, and I like it much better, though I haven't ever compared it to any PW. I just think it is their top of the line ereader. Worth it.

I have or had all 3. I rarely used the PW for it felt bulky. I really love my Voyage and Oasis. The lightweight feel makes it easier to hold. I thought the oasis would feel awkward but it feels good in the hand and you get the illusion of a larger screen since you have that larger side to hold onto. your hand is further away from the screen. The charging screen has my OCD kicking in. whenever the device power drops below 90 it starts to charge off the cover battery till the power on the device is at 94% I keep checking it over and over lol

The larger side / bezel of the Oasis is really what entices me. Not so much the buttons although I am sure I could really get used to those. Had the chance to borrow a Voyage from one of my guests. I actually read a classic since that was all she had on the device. What bothered me where the "buttons" as I kept turning pages accidentally. The bezel was a bit on the small side for my liking, but I am willing to give it another try. At the moment I am forced to read on my iPhone (although the Kindle App is really nice) and I don't get as much reading done as with my PW2 (now totally unreadable as the middle of the screen is blank). Oasis or Voyage.......... hmmmm.... Am giving myself till the end of the month to decide.

I've still got my old Keyboard Kindle, and both first and second generation paperweights, one of which belongs to my husband. I recently got a Voyage. I've just done a side by side comparison. The second generation paperwhite and the Voyage are certainly the winners on screen quality, so either would work for you. Personally I like the Voyage automatic light setting and the flat bezel, not sure yet about the page turn buttons. One thing to consider is the 3g option. I travel a lot, and if I only had WiFi I would have to think much harder about my reading choices before leaving home. Especially as my phone data only works for "free" inside Europe, so using the phone as a WiFi hotspot can prove expensive. I don't buy all my books from Amazon, but I can still put the others in their cloud, which is a useful feature. This way I can leave only a few books (± 100) on the device and just grab my next choice when ready, if I feel like something different. Yes, it's subjective, but seems to work better that way. |

ok I lost all will to control myself and ordered a PW3 here in Indonesia from an online seller. I just could not deal with reading on my phone anymore - headaches and sore eyes. I missed reading to the point where I started to annoy my husband. Happy to say that despite my worries the online seller delivered a perfect product. It is more expensive than buying on Amazon but as Amazon is not an option here and if I had someone ship it to me from overseas the price would have come to the same. One happy person who has managed to read 3 books since Tuesday night despite all the work I have to do. Have not given up on the Oasis though..... just will have to wait till October when I go the Germany. |
