That is nice, though these collections won't mean anything to the Audible apps on non-Fire devices (and I don't think I would want them to).

I really wish they would add personal documents to the PC/Mac apps, and offer to convert personal documents to their new format...

I doubt that they will ever allow personal documents in the cloud to use Enhanced Typesetting. The current situation gives customers incentive to purchase books from Amazon for the best reading experience. |

I for one, since I also read books that are not available on Amazon (often due to region locks), have started using my Kobo more and more for these titles and have recently also started purchasing books from Kobo. Of course, I could format my books to suit the Voyage better (add hyphenation etc) but the Kobo does that without any problems and has a display that is more attractive (because larger). This of course has nothing to do with the services as such (Kobo is actually worse), but it shows that I am not locked into Amazon. I would be if their services would outweigh the attractiveness of other offerings. But it doesn’t. In fact I believe that making their services better would not hamper purchases at all. They already have perhaps the most attractive prices overall so purchasing from them is a no brainer on most occasions. Not allowing books they do not sell anyway to benefit from the same standards of quality is just a poor decision that makes the Kindle platform less attractive. |
