Well, we did that. I never want to read it again because I proofread it seven times, but no proofreading is ever perfect. (Also... nobody can ever test on every device, and it's amazing how much people read on phones yet expect things like big tables not to look disgusting.)

Love this. Like you, unfortunately I have found a few books that were written like that. You know you have lost the story when you start counting the errors. I think the most I ever found was 12 in a 3 sentence paragraph.

Nullnix, was it per chance British English or Scottish English or Irish English or olde English or technical English?
Those usually just require a little note back to Amazon. I knew a couple of historical fiction authors that got those letters from Amazon.
I proofread one book and only found 2 errors (not counting uncommon spelling.)

The prize?

FWIW What I understand about authoring, publishing and proof reader(ing)
  • Even the best authors miss their own gram-speller-ing errors. They get too close to the work. In otherw ords its hue man nurture to skrew thins up.
  • Getting a book into its final, publishable form is the editor's responsibility.
  • Proofreaders can be hired by authors or publishers; however, typically a publisher's proofreader contact list is deeper and better vetted than an author's. This is particularly true for new authors.

Hint for new authors: do not use the 6 inch Lincoln site for proofreaders. You get what you pay for.
Second hint: it helps if your proofreader is a native speaker.

Curiousity, did you read this on Amazon from an Amazon employee?
I read that too. I read it on a non-Amazon forum.
So grain of salt.

For SO MANY people, Kindle means ebooks. For instance, my wife, a paper book reader only, uses the two terms interchangeably. To her, my two Sonys and my Lenovo tablets are Kindles. Her response when I correct her is, "Whatever!"

I can't believe that Amazon would abandon a brand they have spent years building.

So 'submitting corrections' is still a concern for The Kindle Team. Now you can find them on Manage Your Content and Devices:

Quote:
Thank you for submitting corrections to Kindle books you’ve read. This is just a quick note to let you know that, going forward, you can find your submitted corrections on the Manage Your Content and Devices page on Amazon.com. Go to “Your Content,” click “Actions” on a book, and then “View your submitted corrections.”

Thanks for helping us with Kindle corrections,

The Kindle Team
I tried it, and it works. The corrections I submitted were 'Processed'.

BTW you can use the Amazon (store) app (for Fire, iOS, Android) to access Manage Your Content and Devices:
- go to Your Orders
- should be an Account settings option there
- one of the options there should be Devices and Content
- opens a web view

Of course you can do it via browser as well, but may be more convenient to use the app. You can also view & manage (wish) Lists with the app.
