If I understand you right, you can change the color/theme material under Setting/Cover.

I like black mode, so I changed it to black. |

I would like to change it so there is never a white background (in groups, book details). It hurts my eyes to view on a fully white background. Then on a black background I can't see. My eyes are so messed up. |

Beyond the colored background offered for the cover view, the only two options are Day and Night mode. Day is black text on a white background. Night is light-grey text on a black background.

Beyond the options in CC, check your device for options.

NSILMike makes a good point. The Fire supports something called "Blue Shade" that changes the colors apps use. You set the color and brightness in System Settings / Display / Blue Shade. You apply "Blue Shade" by swiping down to show the Quick System Settings menu then tapping "Blue Shade".

Personally I dislike what it does, but it might help you |

Charles just reminded me (by mentioning blue shade) of something that might help. When I am reading on my LCD tablet at night, I use an Android app called "twilight." It is free from the google store, and the purpose is to reduce the natural blue light emitted from LCD screens, which (at night or near bed time) suppresses the bodies natural melatonin. In other words, too much blue light at or near bed time will make it difficult to sleep. There are at least a couple of other similar options there, too.

Not sure what you mean by that... Are you trying to reduce your exposure to blue light during the day? If so that won't make any difference to your sleep. Or are you just trying to pick colors you like?

I would prefer to change the white background to something I like. Something that is easier on my eyes.

@Kybunnies - I've used a gadget called f.lux on Windows and Android for a number of years, similar to Twilight, but IMO better. The version for Android devices needs root access.

The latest Windows beta (version 4) has a slew of new features to set lighting effects, I don't know if/when the changes will make it to Android and/or IOS. If you have Windows might be worth a look. BR |

for actual reading , i use the green background option in the kindle fire app, for kindle books, and I set up a mint colour background for moon + , for epub , which is very close to the kindle's idea of " green".

to use the attached, you save it somewhere on your device , then tell moon + to use it as a background image I don't much care about menu / book selection screen colours, I don't spend hours on those ! Last edited by stumped; 08-05-2017 at 04:36 AM. |
