I agree with you. No.

Many a financial adviser will tell you extended warrenties NEVER make sense, period.
They are probably right, however I still might buy them if and only if the cost amounts to nothing more than a tip, and I'm happy with the sales person. Selling Extended Warranties is usually a very significant part their compensation, so if the EW only costs me a buck or two (as it sometimes does, especially when there is a promotion on them) and I got good service, that is like a tip my mind.

I have long since given up the notion that I will get any value out of them. Multiple bouts of fighting with warranty companies for coverage and getting shoddy repair work has proven to me that the piggy bank would have been the better investment by far.

I'm also trying to get away from spending on cases and screen protectors. Screen protectors were easy to give up. But can I go case-less too? I'm trying to convince myself that it's ok, at least on something that's only used at home.
If you sew, you can make yourself a quilted pouch so you can protect it a bit while carrying it or just leaving it on a desk. For that matter, you can probably find a quilted purse/wrist purse for cheap at walmart that would work. I made my first "case" although I have a fake leather type "case" now. I think I paid 7 dollars on ebay for it and the quilted one I just made from spare fabric!

I have bought five-year extended warranties for TVs, and have had occasion to use them in that last year to get refunds or replacements. The one time I didn't, on an LG TV--because the max was four years and all my TVs had been fine for at least that long--the LG died after only about two years. So for the next TV, I got an extended warranty again.

I also buy extended warranties for shredders and robot vacuums. Based on personal experience, these items fail immediately after the manufacturer's warranty runs out.

If you buy a new car and plan to keep it for 5+ years, extended coverage on the electronic systems is worth considering. Every new model is more complex, you're more and more at the mercy of the dealer, and problems that seem minor can be ridiculously expensive to fix...

You can still get Prime Day pricing on the Dot and some other items, if you order via Alexa voice. Link

In case anyone regrets not purchasing another Dot yesterday for $35, it's still available at that price if you voice order it with Alexa.

Tap and Paperwhite also have special pricing through Alexa.

Quilted placemats. Just fold it in half and sew two sides.

A better plan (if money is a significant factor in your buyng) is don't buy a new car, buy a quality 1-3 year old car, and put the thousands of dollars of depreciation you didn't pay into a savings account earmarked for emergency repairs.

But we are now way off topic....

Has everyone gotten their $10 credit for ordering an Alexa deal through Alexa? My $5 gc credit has come through, but not the $10.

Where do I see these? The $5 giftcard credit, in particular? I'm not sure how to check that I got it.

I got my $10 Alexa deal credit, and my wife got her manual CS-issued $10 credit because her attempt to order with Alexa didn't work (she also got her Fire HD8 already).

I did not get my $5 giftcard credit yet.

I got my $10 reload bonus, but apparently that's instant.

I got the Alexa credit e-mail about 12 hours after placing the Alexa order. By then I'd already used it--it was applied to my first Prime Day order.

I'd suggest starting the checkout process for some item at Amazon to see if the credit appears; it might just be that the e-mail didn't arrive.

Just got my $5 so we now have everything we were expecting.

BTW, you can see your promo balances by using the button linked from this page:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?docId=1000811661
Since the promo balance can be used on videos and digital goods, those balances are usually equal to your promo balances, though it possible to have additional video-only or other special use value showing.
