can not make a catalog in Calibre

I want to make a catalog of my e-books . I see that via convert I can make a csv list. Now I have a list of "writer", "name of book". The names are not sorted at all. I only want a simple nice list. How do I do this . I am using exel 2016.

Did you make settings on the CSV/XML options Tab (What fields, and the column order)?

Sorting a CSV is intended to be done in the Spreadshaeet
Both Excel and Open Offic Calc can sort a selected group of columns Be sure you DO keep all the columns SELECTED in the to be sorted or you will have a mess

Also, there is the Command Line Interface (CLI)

Sorting is one

Agreed. The advantage of creating a CSV catalog is that you have the power of Excel (or your open source alternative) to format, sort, filter, etc,
