I try to keep my house 10 to 20 degrees cooler than outside. There is no way I could get to 31 degrees cooler than outside.
Just checked outside 95 inside 81.

Like you, I tend to leave the tv off during the day. I also use my small appliances more than the stove during the summer. (Not that it helps the gas bill much since the customer charge is $16.50. Then add another $2 in other fees. Total bill this month was 27.44 last month was 23. (Vacation made a difference since our water heater is also gas.)

The forecast was for rain all day, so we did better than expected. It was cloudy, breezy, and the temps were in the 80s.

Monday is one of my walking days. I park the car, walk 20 minutes to a county park, do 3 laps (about 45 minutes) and then walk back. Today, after the first lap, the sky was growing dark in the west. So, I headed back to the car. Beat the rain by 2 minutes.

It has been raining since about midnight, nine hours ago, and it's predicted to rain for another seven hours, until around four pm. They predict that between 30 and 50mm of rain will fall during this period. Temperatures will only reach 17C, so it'll be a bit cool for the time of year.

Hey Blossom, if I remember correctly you just have a refrigerated window unit. If so it is great that you can get your apartment that cool with your outside temperature.

Though I do feel I should give you a heads up. You are looking at a minimum of $3-4 a day and probably closer to $5 (maybe more) keeping your house that cold. I hope your temperatures drop soon.
Heck just 3 extra loads of laundry and running our little evaporative cooler for a week straight (24/7) added an additional $8 to our electric bill.

Oh Blossom, your last couple of posts lead me to wanting to ask you a question but I am afraid your answer will be yes.

Yes a window unit. The key is to keep it running so the air stays cold. The compressor doesn't kick on as often if you can maintain a cool temp.

No cooking. No lights, heavy blankets keeping the hot air outside. The door to the bathroom and laundry area closed.

Last months bill was $100 with Summer rates before that same amount of energy with normal rates was $55. Last year's bill for July was $150.

He's working at a factory. It's temp work but it helps. It's sit down and air conditioning. He punches holes in rubber handle and level bar pieces.
