Calibre 3.3 no way to put author name in at the top on the left screen side.

Has this been changed? The "search" box at the top on the left of calibre was how I usually searched for authors. Mind you I'm still trying to get used to the changes... only installed the version 3 as an upgrade from version 2.xx a day or two ago.

You talking about in the Tag Browser (some of us have that hidden)?

Click the Find icon and the Search box will open up, it persists so you won't have to click it every time.

At one stage Configure and Find 'group' was at the top, but some folks didn't like it because it appeared to be related to the Virtual Libraries button, so it went back to the bottom.

I still can't get it to look quite right. Here is what mine looks like... It has the search at the bottom and no find. I'm kind of confused.

when you click Find, the bottom changes to a search box
The new UI way starts things collapsed into a small icon, which expands when you click one.

After typing the name hit enter to find first match, then click the magnifying glass to find next match etc.



The Tag Browser keyboard shortcut for Find next match doesn't seem to work, but I'm not sure it worked in calibre 2.

How do I get "alter tag browser" to appear? I have the search appearing at the bottom (I really prefer it at the top of the screen) and can't get it to look like it did in calibre 2.x. Not sure what I did to make it appear either. I don't have configure or find appearing as it does on the first image posted by BetterRed.

The Configure button (has a gears icon) has exactly the same options as the Alter Tag Browser button had.

The only way to get it as it was in 2.x is to revert to 2.x

on having at the top, but we'll soon get used to it.

If you have a lot of custom columns the borderless buttons get somewhat lost - visually - IMO.

You clicked the Find button (has a magnifying glass icon) - that opens up the text box.

There's a Cancel icon in the text box, if you click it, the text box will be removed, and the Find button will be reinstated.

What may be confusing you is that the magnifying glass icon used on the Find button, also appears to the right of text box. But in the latter context it finds the next 'whatever' you entered in the text box. Maybe it could be something like this. Initially, I thought it would do what the Cancel icon does.

It is at the top in the image in this post... and it looks to be calibre 3.3 on this one. I was just trying to figure out how to make mine work like this.

The screen shot in Post 4 shows the two Tag Browser versions - 2.85.1 on the left, and 3.3 on the right - I guess I should have stated that explicitly. The arrows show how the widgets have been rearranged.

I don't think I can post anything that's not in my previous posts, without repeating myself I rarely use Tag Browser Find. Maybe someone who uses it regularly can chime in and better explain the version 3.x changes.

Sorry. I hadn't realized it was the two versions posted. I guess I have it as good as it gets although I still think the placement in version 2.x was preferable.
