They all look the same to me.
But then sometimes I think I am blind in one eye and can't see out of the other. - - - - On Topic: There have been some discussions in the Developer's Forum about changing them, but I don't recall anyone reporting on having actually done it. The general direction of the discussions, was that people wanted something a little bit "warmer" and not so harshly bluish. |

All do, white led bulbs are naturally blue of neutral. It is the nature of the technology.
If you want something warmer try the Kobo Aura One or H2O v 2. They have orange leds as well as white ones and with a slider you can then adjust the color temperature to how you like it. You can also just use a colder reading lamp like an led one and then the bezel and screen will match. |

I have the basic Kindle from '15 and a Voyage, and I don't find much difference between even them, certainly not a $120 difference. (I rarely read in a dimly lit room.)
These "the bezel isn't really true white" type complaints remind me of the hi-fi stereo craze of the '60's and '70's. Stereophiles -- I think that's what they were called back then -- used to assemble and debate and obsess over individually purchased components. They bought woofers, tweeters, crossover networks, power amps, pre-amps, tuners, turntables, tone arms, and cartridges separately. Magazine shelves were loaded with stereo magazines and buying guides. It seemed to me that most of these supposed music lovers were really electronic hobbyists and didn't really care about, or maybe even listen to, music that much. It was more about frequency response, dynamic range, signal to noise ratios, per channel power output etc. than it was about orchestras, composers, and musicians. I believe posters here when they describe their reading habits, many of whom read several books a week. However when I read a lot of this obsessing over the color of the bezel or the tiny uneveness of the LED lights, I find myself wanting to scream, "JUST READ THE DAMN BOOK!" Andy I happen to have read 60+ books since getting the PW3... hummmm How many have you read Since June 20th?? Yes I am being Snarky since you decided to be so RUDE!
BTW Basic Kindles Don't have Lights. Also the Voyage came out Before the PW3 [grey] then came the Oasis but except for more bells they ALL have 1 thing in common All are 300 ppi So they are all going to read the same. PW3 [White] hasn't been out that long...since there is Nothing about the Lights being Blue this thread was for me to see if I really lost it & was seeing things or not. I apologize for sounding rude since you are the last person I'd want to offend. I posted earlier in this thread about you:

I got my first Kindle, the cheapo Basic, 2 1/2 years ago. (I know it doesn't have lights.) After reading this forum for years, I was recently induced to get a Voyage, albeit a used one from Craigslist. To my surprise, I didn't really prefer it to the Basic all that much. For example, I only notice that the Voyage has a whiter screen with the brightness at 8-10 compared to the Basic when I am looking at both. If I'm just reading on the Basic, the background looks white to the exent I even think about the background at all. Which I don't. For me, the greater ppi of the Voyage makes no real difference in my reading experience. I was trying to say that if I am engrossed in a book rather than thinking about the specs of the device I am reading it on or focusing on the ways in which the device falls short of absolute perfection, the device becomes invisible to me and it doesn't make a dime's worth of difference whether it's .33" thick or .4" thick or 7 1/2 ounces or 11 ounces, or has 226 ppi or 300 ppi or it has 6 LEDs or 12 LEDs or there's a tiny shadow in the lower left corner or the LEDs aren't pure white. |

If no one discussed the similarities and/or the differences, what would there be to discuss? After all, this is a discussion list. You may consider my question above as rhetorical, since you have already answered it. Here is how I see that you have already answered that question: Having dismissed any participation in discussing similarities and/or differences, you find your role to primarily be a 'lurker'. Which is a direct result of your choice to dismiss discussions on topics that are of little interest to yourself. Without discussion subjects, a discussion list is a bit dry. ![]() I.E: Drain the fish bowl and no one should be amazed that the fish can no longer swim. |

You can also just buy a cooler bulb for the lamp you use for reading. Or you can just live with the bezel reflecting the color temp of the light that you're using. |

A book with a built in light means that I truly can read anywhere. In bed, in a car at night, in a theater while I'm waiting for the show to start, etc. It also means that if I start reading in the afternoon and continue into the evening, I don't have to turn a light on until it gets *really* dark...and...if it is really dark, I can use my book to find my way around. It truly is a dream come true for me. Shari |

I was disappointed in the Kindle's front light, though. I thought it would replicate the look of the screen being lit by ambient room light, but actually, if the room is not well enough lit in which to read, the screen looks more similar to a backlit tablet or phone than I thought it would. It sort of glows. It's okay, though. At least now when the lights go out, I don't panic and think, now what am i going to do. I can just reach for the Voyage. |

I didn't always hold the view I expressed in my post. I used to be very interested in comparing and contrasting Kindles. It was only after I bought a thinner, lighter, smaller Kindle with a lighted screen and 300 ppi after having exclusively used the Basic Touch for two plus years that I realized that, imo, these differences were exaggerated. My suggestion, for what it was worth, was that maybe people were too focused on attaining perfection in these relatively new devices, the way we used to obsess about the specs of hi-fi stereo gear when it was new. When I was a kid, I remember being so troubled by some slight distortion in one loud passage of a three record box set of "The Messiah" that I wrote the label, RCA, to complain. They sent me a replacement and apologized for their quality control slipping-up. The new record had the same five seconds of slight distortion. I had become so focused on what was wrong with the music reproduction that I was not enjoying the music. My thought was maybe this is going on here, to some degree. I was just throwing it out as an idea. |
