Forget Stevia, Sorbitol is from the pit of evil.
Yesterday I ate two granola bars that I had no clue had sorbitol in them. Five minutes later this tingling burning sensation starts in my left fingertips travels up my arm into my brain and down my spine. I had no idea what this was. It was so strange, so foreign. A few minutes later it hit my digestive system hard. An hour later I got so sick I had to call the factory to send Hubby home from his new job. I didn't want to but I didn't know what was happening to me. I kept taking my vitals. I had no chest pain just this weird sensation that settled in my arms, back and digestive system while it began purging. An hour later hubby got home and it would be four hours later before it started to subside. We decided to check the ingredients on the bars and everything looked fine till half way through it said Sorbitol. After Googling we found out what a severe reaction can do. I'm still in pain this morning. It's like a very bad GERD episode. I have burning in my arms, back and in my esophagus. I still having bouts of running to the bathroom. Here's my rant. There is nothing on the box that says it contains artificial sweeteners. It has sugar, honey, molasses, fruit, corn syrup, more sugar. So why in hockey sticks does it contain sorbitol!?!? Why? Why!?! Is Sunbelt sadists? It makes no sense to use it when you are using regular sugar, honey, molasses.... Evil sneaky $#*!...... The lesson learned is nothing new goes into this mouth without reading the label. Sent from my XT1528 Last edited by Blossom; 06-28-2017 at 12:17 PM. |

Speak of, BLossm, I was having some tummy issues this morning. I felt a bit better after drinking some Sprite but I noticed a co-worker chugging Pepto Bismol in the break room, so I hope I haven't come down with something.

The two kids in the house both woke up sick. One has a sore throat and the other a stomach ache. Kids are germ magnets. Looking forward now to catching my first bug in months.

Sorry to interrupt the serious health stuff with some petty vents, but I'm going to, nonetheless.
Dear fellow technologists: "Cache," as in an area of memory or storage where data is held for quick access, is pronounced like "cash," as in money. It is NOT pronounced "ca-SHAY." That word, spelled "cachet," means 'prestige.' You're knowledge workers. Please add this to your knowledge base, so you sound knowledgeable. Thank you! Dear callers to the Dave Ramsey Show: Learn the difference between the pronouns "I" and "me" and how to use them correctly, at least in the most simple and common constructions. Maybe if you spoke like you paid attention in grammar school, you'd do better in job interviews, and command a higher salary, and you'd be in better financial shape. Worth a try. Thanks! Regarding office people stealing items from others desks. Long ago and far away, the engineering office where I worked had a somewhat identical issue. In this case, it was the head engineer who was the culprit.
The regular guys out in the office floor kept a dish full of those pink peppermints for folks to help themselves to. One would usually grab one or two when going by the chap's desk. Once in a while, someone would come in with a replacement bag to keep the supply up. Except for the head engineer. He would actually make a special trip out to the dish, grab a handful and head back to his office. This was starting to get on their nerves, so a plan was hatched by the originator of the candy supply. One day, he came in and replenished the supply. He then told the rest of the crew not to take any peppermints. He next instructed the staff that when the manager eventually came out to help himself, that they should do whatever they can to keep him busy and just watch. What the chap did was replace the mints with those pink wafers that one uses to clean false teeth. Can't remember the brand name right off hand. Sure enough, the manager came out, grabbed a small handful right after popping 2 into his mouth. Apparently, it only took a few seconds for him to realize he didn't have mints in his mouth. That's when one guy came over to get an issue corrected that only he could authorize. The second one came over to get a handful of signatures on some work orders or something. All the time, they could see his eyes start to tear up, and, by the time he could actually get away from the crew, one could see really teeny pink bubbles creeping out of the edges of each side of his mouth. That was the last time he helped himself to anything in the office. |

So, don't be kidding yourself about those incomes. Dave don't give a rat's patootie about helping the poor. He helps the overspending middle class. Yes, his callers are not exactly financially bright, but they have to have a good paying job to be on the show. He won't even allow people to look at any of his tips on his website unless you make over 50K a year or lie. His show is nothing but an advertisement for his financial planning stuff or his sponsors stuff. Now having that out of the way, he does give good advice sometimes. |

BUT, what can we expect? Let's face it the cult of celebrity now far overrides any cult of education/learning/erudition. We had a president who agreed to be interviewed with a woman who sat in a tub full of cereal and milk. 'Nuff said. And no, I do NOT mean to compare or start a discussion over which Prez had worse taste or any political horseshaft. Just saying that celebrity outweighs any sort of real weight, in terms of education, accomplishments, capability, etc. It seems that nowadays, news coverage and the like would rather interview some twit that made himself famous on YouTube, doing something stupid, than a guy that cures cancer, or develops a treatment for some horrible disease, or sends stuff to Mars. Therefore, no one feels as though they are compelled to educate themselves as to how to speak. Why bother? They can be famous on Youtube, or publish a barely-literate book on Amazon that can actually earn good amounts of money. It's boggling. The Illiterocracy begins. /rant Hitch |
