I only buy a book on Kobo if I have a coupon that makes it cheaper than Amazon, or it is actually cheaper on Kobo. I only use the price match if a coupon is involved and it's still a few pence dearer. Yes I've claimed when the difference is a little as 8p. It's easier and more practical for me to buy on Amazon so when my super points membership expires I doubt I'll use Kobo much at all.

Just double checked and that 90% code was sent to my main account. The one that I use to buy all my books on. It didn't work there, but it worked on a second account I had created in the past but never used before. So I used that miss you code, the discover 90% code, and the $5 off on your first purchase to buy 3 books that were on my wish list. The 75% code I'm saving till I figure out which book to use it on.

Thanks for the tip. I had a 50% off that I couldn't use in my account, maybe because it has a VIP membership. So I tried it in another account and it worked.

The discussion is here.
My Audible wishlist is down to about 14 titles, from over 3 pages. My Kindle Unlimited + WSV wishlist is now 23 items, it had hundreds before. |

It was a nice benefit. Now it looks like only the ones with special "Amazon imprints" have the good WSV prices, such as Montlake Romance.

I have a 90% code that I can't get to work (big surprise). If anyone else wants to try it, give me a PM.

Anyone got a 75% or more coupon that don't want? I know a really long shot but I thought I asked. You can PM it to me please if you do.

If you happen to read French books, publisher Bragelonne (who sell DRM-free at Kobo) is once again running their GrosseOP sale, with a selection from their extensive catalogue of original and translated titles for just €0.99/$1.99 CAD (a considerably better exchange rate than last time) across many different genres. Much of the selection rotates daily (supposed to be 100 new titles per day, and last time around they repeated the previous selections for the final day of the sale), and at Kobo Canada, there's also an offer for 5x Bonus Points on each sale title.
Native Francophone authors who are notable sf/fantasy/mystery award-nominees include Pierre Pevel, Pierre Pelot, Fabrice Colin, Samantha Bailly, Michel Jeury, Paul Beorn, Olivier Gay, and more. And in case you want to practice your French relatively cheaply, there's also translated stuff from Kim Harrison, Arthur C. Clarke, Trudi Canavan, Jim Butcher, Richard K. Morgan, Mercedes Lackey, Clive Barker, and many more. Linkage to the main Kobo CA sale page (this promo is also offered in multiple retailers and regions, exchange rates may vary), and the categories, which have URLs which state they will rotate daily, are equivalent to Top 10 Titles, Thrillers/Horror/Espionage, Contemporary Literature (includes retro-historicals written contemporary to the time such as Jane Austen's Sanditon), SF & Fantasy, Romance, Bit-Lit (which seems to be their marketing term for paranormal romance), and YA. ETA: This will apparently run until the 30th, according to Bragelonne Québec's official Facebook page announcement. Last edited by ATDrake; 06-27-2017 at 06:42 PM. |

I first started reading this forum several years ago but havent posted for a long time; I stopped even reading the thread back when the contests finished. My bookmark for here reappeared when I reloaded old saved browser settings recently so I decided to check out what was new. Result? Nothing.
I am somewhat baffled to see that the same handful of people, years later, are still posting the same complaints about coupons not working and appalling customer service from Kobo. Why?? Why do you keep bashing your heads against the same brick wall? Do any of you really believe Kobo will ever be any different when they have no incentive to change? As long as you all keep buying from them, they have no reason to change. Its ludicrous to keep complaining when you are enabling the problem. Vote with your feet, or in this case, your fingers. |

I cannot comment on their customer service's handling of complaints or difficulties because I have never had a problem to refer to them with. Why some people have problems with Kobo I don't know but all suppliers end up with some unhappy customers for one reason or another, and generally it is those customers one hears most from. The only things I can think of that may differentiate my situation from some who are having problems is that I only have one account (and that has my correct details i.e. not spurious) and from what I can determine most books are eligible for coupon discounts for purchasers in my country (I have not yet come across one that is not during my own purchases of the types of books I buy - mainly non fiction and quality fiction). |

How do these discounts from kobo are suppose to work?
I've nerver received anything like that, despite being registered to the site since some years now and having acquired some books. Do they send the promotional codes directly to one's email? Do you need to have bought a certain number of books from them? Do you need to be in a particular country? |
