Next time you get a suspicious email, do not click on any links but go to Amazon. com and click on messages.

There is a way to bring it under control.

I don't know what service or from where you have your e-mail account, but the end objective is to disable the current one.

First, you have to setup a brand new one which will eventually replace the one that is being abused.
But the key to controlling any future abuse on the new one, is to never use the new one.


The key phrase to search for is "email alias" .
I did that and listed a few of the common ones below.

Some services call them by their technical name: "e-mail alias" (Microsoft OutLook), some call them: "nicknames" (Google Apps).

Then think up some sort of naming plan for you nicknames.
For instance I might set (if I owned example.com or had an email account with them):
Amazon@Example.com
as the nickname that I will use for everything "Amazon".

The mail server that receives mail for Amazon@Example.com will look up what that nickname is linked to and find:
MyRealAddress@Example.com
And send the mail there (which is your new, real, never to be exposed, email address).

In a similar manner, your e-mail client can be set (usually something called personalities) to use: Amazon@Example.com as the 'from' and 'reply-to' address.

Then everything works just as if the nickname was the real address name.

Why?

When you setup a (different) nickname for to be used with each of your correspondents it is very easy to tell who "leaked" your e-mail address to someone interested in abusing it.
Then all you have to do is invent a new nickname for that correspondent and disable the one being abused.
Which effects only that correspondent, not all of your other correspondents (because they already have a different nickname).

There are a lot of services that offer free (watch out, check these carefully) or low cost email service with an unlimited number of aliases.

It's a phishing email - look at the domain, "amazondailey.com". Whatever you do, do not click on the link. It could infect your computer with a virus, steal your account credentials, or god knows what else.

The case color is picked to help trick the eye that the screen has a whiter color than it does.

I wouldn't trade in one of my Kindle Keyboards for even $200! The 3G open web access alone saves me at least that per year. And as a reader it's great. I mean, I used to read Penguin paperbacks without complaint and the screen resolution on a Kindle 3 is way better than that! If/when Amazon cuts off the free 3G for Kindle3, I'll consider an upgrade. Not before then.
