Hitch this is just one big ball of bizarre.

Got a call from mom they are releasing her tomorrow. Got a call from my sister's social worker they are releasing her tomorrow. So they are both going home. State has inspected the house. I can't believe it passes each time but the house of horrors has once again passed. (That's my nickname for that place.)

They will be having home services come in. Still no idea who will drive them to the doctors or do their shopping but they both refused rehabilitation at a center. That poor social worker. She was at a lost but to give them what they want.

They both get SSI well sis will again now she can't work. They are on Medicaid. The house is paid for.

Normally in summer the Netherlands has an average of 4 days with temperatures of 30C or higher. It isn't even the end of June and we've surpassed that already. Today and tomorrow will be hot (for Dutch standards) 29C and 30C. I just don't do well in those types of temperatures. Luckily, it cooled down during the night, but we won't be as lucky tonight.

I had already arranged that today and tomorrow are my half days at work and luckily no shipments are coming in, so I can take it easy. I'm really looking forward to Friday when temperatures are going back to normal for June.

We are having record highs here too. Normally we don't get over 38C until July. We have had several over that days already and many close to 40C.
That looks so much nicer in Celsius. For those in the U.S, that is 100-110. Yesterday was only about 97.
So I do feel you.

Today wasn't too bad, mostly because the day started relatively cool and the peak temperature of 29C wasn't reached until late afternoon and only shortly. I also did manage to keep my bedroom cooler than outside, I'll keep my window closed until it's cooler outside than inside. It'll be a warm night and tomorrow morning, by 10am when I open the store temperatures are set to have risen to 27C already. I'm hoping the prediction of a thunderstorm tomorrow evening is correct; it usually cools down a lot quicker during a thunderstorm than on a dry night.

But I am grateful I don't life in a proper warm climate (though I would be used to it).

We should get down to 29C about 1am. As I type this it is 36C and we aren't even to the hottest time of day yet.

Argh!!! So mom calls tells me she is being released and sent home in...get this an ambulance Because she has to have IVs and can't walk. *Screams*

I have no idea what she told the doctor. That house is not sterile enough for IVs. So I call my sister who isn't being released today. There is no one at that house to take care of mom. She agrees with the IVs and not being able to walk mom should not go home.

She also tells me mom's nurses have been harassing her. Mom has made them think my sister does not care about her. I'm telling you this one freaking mess! Mom also has been lying to them about who can take care of her. My sister was out of the loop.

I'm needing a stiff drink right about now and I don't drink.

oh, puhleeze! A piddling 96.8F? Oh, pshaw, gurl, it was that at 4:00 a.m. here. It's 42C, right now (107F, for you Mercuns), and that's NOT AS HOT as it will get today. We're expecting 120F today (48.8C).

YES, REALLY.

Ugly, Hitch. That's just too hot. And telling me it's a dry heat doesn't help! But hey, it's not as bad as Death Valley, where it's headed up to the mid-50's today. (The mind simply boggles!)

Here it's a relatively balmy 19 degrees. Sun is out, so it's actually quite warm in the sun. But the breeze is running 15-20kph so very nice indeed.

Now we need a poster from Death Valley CA.
Is that your normal high for this time of year or are you hotter than usual too?
Now did you choose to love in that oven or was it chosen for you?

Aw, THANKS, Charlie. That's so heartwarming to know. So thoughtful, to tell me how lovely it is at your place. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr....

(And we HAVE a place in the mountains, mind you. But can I go there? Noooooooooooooooo. Why? Not enough bandwidth to run the company.)

Hotter. We're typically around 105-107, not bloody 120. And while that sounds horrible to those who don't live here, 105 is surprisingly livable, GIVEN that we're in the desert and yes, it's nearly unbearable in the summer.

It's a tie, vis: did I choose or was it chosen. I came here in '79, and although I've lived a good dozen other places, over the years since, I end up coming back here. My DH's people are here, which is part of it. Plus, I've had any number of really good clients, here, in my former (and good-paying, sigh...) life, so, even if I was someplace like Alaska, a client would call with a new dirt project, and...off I'd go, or home I'd come, whichever.

It's supposed to break on Sunday, thank GOD. I have errands to run, and our cars are so old, I get fretful about the idea of gallivanting around in one of them, in this heat. It's bad news if one croaks--not like schlepping a mile or two in this heat is that easy. Of course, we always (ALWAYS) have a lot of spare water in the car, full-time, but still.

We always welcome entrepreneurs here, looking to bring their business with them. After all, Canada actually encourages immigration. Oh, and bandwidth -- I have 150/150 here on fibre. And I'm sure that will increase as soon as the cable company catches up. (The best they can do right now is 100/20, so Telus has no incentive to offer more.)

And mountains? Yeah, we have some of those, too. You might have even heard of a couple of them...

I know we usually don't get over 100 till July, but this year we have had many days over that so far. Not to mention thunderstorms popping up and hail shattering everything in sight.
Insurance adjuster will be here Monday morning for the vehicles.

Charlie, Charlie:

That's because you have NO people. I mean, sure, a few handfuls (30mil or thereabouts, right?) in a landmass that's just a skosh larger than the US, including Alaska. So, one-tenth of the population, same amount of space. Of course you guys are happy to see warm bodies show up! Particularly those with paying businesses. :-)

Best,

Well, that's a blessing (house paid for, SSI/Medicaid). At least that isn't killing you off.

The crap with nobody being home--that's a disaster looking for a place to happen. Did you call Social Services, or...?
