Whole foods was in trouble as big grocery stores started selling organic produce and other products at a cheaper price.

Now we will see what happens with Amazon as Aldi is starting to come the the US. Big Grocers like Kroger not happy.

Kroger started doing orders for pickup a couple of months ago. They had done it for delivery for home for at least a year.

Nothing stopping Walmart from adding their own organic line of products and home delivery or pick up order at store.

Not a fan of organic. Grew up that way and more trouble than it's worth.

Aldi has been around here for several years. I love 'em. Cheap and quick. As soon as they see a few people in line they open another checkout. They've been adding some organic produce. The stores are small enough that I can get in, grab my usuals and be done in a few minutes.

We have had Aldi's for at least 15 years, if not longer. The first one was small, with mostly canned and frozen stuff, and very limited produce. The newer locations are much more full service type grocery stores. I'm positive of the time frame, because I bought 20 pounds of potatoes at one to make dinner for a bunch of college friends of our sons, back in 2002.

There were also Aldi's that had electronics, computers, etc.

Aldi's has been in the US since 1976. I can remember going into the stores when I was a kid in the late 70's.

Walmart already does organic and pick-up at the store. And now Walmart is asking employees to deliver packages on their way home from work. Which sounds like a joke, but isn't.

I don't really care what Walmart does. Short of drastically changing the way they treat their employees, they will always be the pit of despair.

I wonder how that is even legal, considering Worker's Comp and car insurance issues.

Same as a Pizza Del they get paid by the miles. My neighbor uses Walmart since he was forced to stop driving & lost his Home health aide.

My neighbor works at Walmart. He has no complaints. Hubby was trying to get on there but it's really tough to get hired because you have to know someone.

I prefer organic, especially with my daily berries which I feel much safer eating without rinsing them off a bunch of times (I still rinse organic berries off too, but just once). The same for kale, spinach, carrots and such. I also prefer outdoors free-range eggs. I don't necessarily taste a difference; I just like knowing the chickens get to (hopefully) roam around freely. I was a vegetarian for well over a decade and I still think a lot about how happy the animals were/are.

Interesting! I have an egg allergy too but very different; for me it's specifically raw yolks (like in soft-boiled eggs or cookie dough) and the effect is my throat gets itchy and closes up a bit/gets swollen. Like you, I still eat them though. Can't have flu shots or something else I can't remember just now, and I'm supposed to have an epi-pen around in case the allergy ever gets suddenly worse but I haven't got one yet, though I really should just to be safe.

Organic produce can still contain traces of pesticide as well as dirt so to be safe it's better to rinse it off.

I like to buy organic root veggies. They tend to have much more contact with chemicals etc. because of being grown in the dirt.

Of course being organic has nothing to do with washing off dirt that may be on produce. Leaf veggies can be very sandy or dirty.

Berries shouldn't be washed until right before serving.
