Embedded Font Problems in Music Book

I'm trying to convert a music text book i wrote from pdf to epub and mobi.
The music is all converted to useless random text instead of music.
I've tried to embed the music fonts, but they do not show up in the font list and when I try to add them they are greyed out in the list and inaccessible. Do any calibre wizards know how to resolve this font issue, or know how to get calibre to recognize music instead of just text?

Unfortunately, conversion from PDF is full of issues.

The OP wrote the book, I'm sure he knows how to read the PDF on his iPad, But what he probably wants is to buy some food from the proceeds of selling copies thereof to people who have Kindles, Kobos, etc!

@Jack Verga - I think there are some threads about music notation in the EPUB and/or the Kindle forums.

we need to know how you got the music notation into the pdf in the first place, else it's all guess work
can you upload a sample + a how you did it .
the obvious fix, which some kindle music books use, is to add the music as images, with no attempted text conversion

FYI
the big web sites who sell sheet music as "pdf", use plugins like Scorch. so what you get is a scorch file not an actual pdf. you can get scorch for ipad from teh app store, to see it in action
