One thing I have noticed on the new iPad Pro is that the side bezel is a lot narrower than on the Air 2. Measuring it, the bezel on the left and right of the screen is exactly 1cm on the Air 2, but only 6mm on the new Pro. This means you have to be a little more careful how you hold it to avoid accidentally touching the screen.

I often wonder about the supposedly leaked images of a new iPhone without much bezel at all. It seems like that would be extremely difficult to use in a protective case like the Otterbox Defender. I really don't like devices with little to no side bezel as it makes for a host of usability issues.

The auctions for my two old iPads are going so well that I took the new one back to the Apple Store this afternoon and swapped it for the 512GB model

No way I will use Murdererslist Craigslist. Too many criminals use that these days. In nearby Arlington, Texas a couple listed some of the wife's jewelry on Craigslist and agreed to meet a prospective buyer inside a local Target retail store in a nice part of town. The buyer never showed, or so they thought, so they drove home. The husband dropped off the wife at home then went to work. Before she got inside the house she was shot and killed and the jewelry was stolen. The perps had apparently been at Target, watched the couple from a distance, followed them home, then killed her and stole the jewelry. Both were captured within a few days, but that won't help the wife or her grieving husband any. I've shopped at that particular Target in years past when I lived nearer to it. Well, that went extremely well - much better than I'd hoped for. The two auctions have ended with winning bids of £710 for the iPad Pro, and £345 for the iPad Air 2, so a total of £1055. Take off the 10% eBay fee and that leaves me with £949.50. I paid £1088 for the new iPad Pro + Smart Cover (including the extra £180 I paid to swap the 256GB for the 512GB version), so all in all it'll end up costing me £138.50, which is a very modest outlay for a significant upgrade.
I'm always surprised at how much people are willing to pay for second-hand iPads! |

Congratulations! My trusty old iPad Pro is 128 GB, which was max memory back when I got it. My mouth waters at the thought of 512 GB, but not enough to make me reach for my wallet.
![]() My sister just bought a new iPad Pro with Apple Pencil. She's the artist in the family (pretty good actually, plus she's a professional photographer) so I'll have to ask her what she thinks of it after she has had time to play with it. |

Received the £345 for the Air 2. I'm slightly suspicious of the buyer for the Pro: new eBay account, with no history - might be a fake bidder; we'll see. I've contacted the person with the next highest bid, though (who has an eBay feedback rating of many hundreds) and he says he's happy to buy it should the winner bidder turn out not to be legit.

That is one of the reasons I don't like eBay. Too many bidders who never pay or were just plain crooks. I never list items in an actual bidding auction anymore because I got tired of having to relist due to jerks who would never pay. I use the Buy Now option and require immediate payment. That way if they hit the Buy Now button but don't pay, the item stays on eBay as an active sell. I think a lot of the no pay jerks are bidding in several auctions to see in which one they win with the lowest amount of bid. They are playing the system. If they have a new account it might be because eBay kicked them out already under an older account for doing that, so they just open a new account under a different name.

I never know how much to ask, which is why I don't use "Buy Now"; I prefer to have an auction with a low starting price, and let buyers decide what the right price is. Touch wood, in 17 years as an eBay member, I've never had a problem with an auction; hope this one isn't the first

I hope it goes well. I've had several bad auctions over the years, unfortunately.
I research the current auctions and recent past auctions to get an idea of what people or paying for items like mine. Then I come up with a reasonable amount I'm happy with. I go overboard on the photos, and as a enthusiast photographer I take plenty of professional quality photos and write my own HTML page rather than use eBays default ones. I make my auction page as professional as possible. I'm flabbergasted by most of the auction pages I see where it is difficult to see what they are actually selling. So I make mine great looking, appealing, informative, and honest (point out all deficiencies.) I've discovered over the years that I average a bit more with the Buy Now than I do with bidding auctions. And I usually get the deal done within a few hours after posting the item. I frequently sell my item in hours while others who have the same item and at a lesser amount often have their auction still going after a week or two. I think a lot depends on how well you market the item. A great TV commercial will sell junk really well, but a crappy ad might not be able to move great items. People are funny like that. Make the page look great with very nice photos that make the item look appealing, and people lose control and hit the Buy Now button! A lot of it is the psychology of selling. ![]() Last edited by jswinden; 06-18-2017 at 01:10 PM. |
