Oh, actually, I'm happy to hear that! It must mean that the handwriting response is much better than on the S1. I'll just sell all the tips and the extra stylus I have once I get the new one.

Yeah the writing near the edges ofthe screen should be better because it is not using the classic EMR solution. Hopefully the overall response will be better but EMR was good in the response department. Edit: Also this type of stylus needs to be charged.

If you can upload a PDF file from the RP1 to a folder on your computer, using the Digital Paper program, can't you just make that folder a folder in DropBox or am I missing something?

But every time you want to sync the tablet you need your computer on. We should be able to sync directly to Dropbox.

From the Q&A on the Sony website for "Which Cloud Service Can I Use with the Digital Paper App?"

they say:
"The DPT-RP1 Digital Paper System synchronizes with the folder of the computer which the client application uses. Therefore, you can use a cloud service which provides a simultaneous client application for computers. Make sure to use the function provided by the cloud storage service. Contact the cloud storage service provider for details."

That does seem to reinforce that you need to sync with a computer on, and can't sync directly to the cloud service using a wifi connection alone. [EDIT at least, I think it does]

It does look like you can install the digital paper app on multiple computers and sync to a single device. If you have the dropbox or onedrive client on multiple machines, that would at least let you sync your device at work and home.

I have been reading the manual that was linked and, unless I am missing it, it appears that you have to use the Digital Paper App in order to transfer documents to and from the device. This would seem to imply that the RP1 is not seen as a mass storage USB device by the operating system. Hope I am missing something.

UPDATE: on this page

http://helpguide.sony.net/dpt/rp1/v1...001178339.html

it says:

"To transfer documents between a computer and the Digital Paper (DPT-RP1), the Digital Paper App must be installed on the computer."

So, have they dropped support for WebDAV? I'm quite happy with Box.com. Obviously, I don't need to be running a client app on my computer to synch the S1 to Box, we never had a client app.

My understanding is that they're using a printer driver approach to getting PDF files on the RP1 so I don't know if you can access it as a USB drive or not.

And there is no Digital Paper app for Android so you could use your phone to sync with cloud services?
How likely is it that some app developer will come up with that? Or are Sony not releasing any SDK?

Is there a Mac version of the digital paper app or is it only PC?

Thanks! I had previously searched for a download link but did not find it. Maybe they just put it up recently or I missed it.

The Mac OS X download page is on a different page than the page that comes up after filling out the registration form. The first page is only for PCs.

Now, I just need an RP1! The first screen says to connect the RP1 to the computer with a USB cable. I wonder if it works with the S1? I don't want to mess it up so I won't bother trying it.
