I've had both good and bad from Kobo, including one issue that's never been fixed and that included multiple conversations for over 9 months with multiple CS reps & including Michael Tamblyn when he was their content chief. However other times Kobo's CS has been great at solving my issues, not that there have really been many. With Amazon I almost always get good to great CS, but have had a few "stinkers" too.

The only time I can recall not getting excellent customer service from Amazon involved an odd situation. I'd bought an ebook some time ago, and the author had republished it with a new ASIN. Since the original was a Topaz-format book that won't convert to EPUB, I contacted Amazon to see if they could put the new version in my account. The agent I spoke with seemed to have trouble understanding the concept of "same book, new ASIN" and thought that when I was asking to get the new version, what I meant was that I couldn't figure out how to send my original purchase to my device. In the end, I wasn't able to get the updated version, but I figured it'd be a long shot anyway.

I've had my run ins with Amazon, that's no secret, but Kobo customer service is truly the worst I've ever experienced. I'm just deleting their emails now, I had another one today telling me that they had closed my last "incident" as it was a duplicate, they would reply to the previous incident. That's the one they told me two days ago had been closed. They seriously have no idea what they are doing.

Try the reverse, new version same ASIN and you want the previous version. That happened to a lot of people with Wool Omnibus because the same ASIN was reused for the Kindle in Motion version. The KiM version is huge. Also, because Hugh Howey is in bed with Amazon, there's no other shop in the US to get it So the only version now available is the KiM version. The size is 884111 KB.

Well, this is a new one to me. I have, for the first time ever, received a we miss you code from Kobo.
However, it is a 40% code, and is apparently only good on selected titles. There is one book I've been eyeing, so I am going to try it and see what happens.

Huh. Glad I got my copies of his books - the Wool trilogy and the four Bern books - from Kobo when I did, then.

Just got a we miss you code for 90% off. It doesn't work on my main account, but I had created a second account years ago but never bought anything on it yet. The 90% code works there, and also the OPEN75UP & DSCVR90BK codes (which also don't work on the main account).

I got my copy of Wool Omnibus from Kobo. I have no idea if I can still download it. I just don't get why using Hugh though that using same ASIN for the Kindle in Motion version was a good idea as all that did was wipe out the text version. And the KiM version is way too big.

And most people will go look on Amazon and see the KiM version and that's going to be their choice.

Again, that version only downloads if you have a KiM compatible device, otherwise you get a regular AZW3.
