You must not have a rent payment or pay very little. Ours is $600 a month for a tiny apartment. Electric runs $100 to $150. Internet went up and is now $80 they only have the one speed here so no other plan. Our cheapest bill is car insurance which is $36 thanks to hubby being a Vet. Add a $50 cell phone on that and then you have your living expenses such as gas, food, home goods....etc.

I miss our Save a lot. They closed it and put in a Cost Saver. It is supposed to be wholesale + 10%. We went in once. Price on shelf was less than Walmart by about 5% or less. They added the 10% at the register. Needless to say they got 0+10% from us.

If you have a United or Safeway or Market Street, their corn and green beans may be 2 for 88 cents this week. I know Albertsons Market is this week and they are a United store.

We do a lot of 25-40% off meats. Depends on the store.
Another place to look would be Big Lots or Odd Lots especially for coffee and jellies.

Tell your Dish friends to ask about the Flex plans. My bill went from 100+ to 64 when I dropped the kid stuff and a few other channels.

Amazon has another unit called AmazonFresh. Not available in my area yet. This would have SNAP foods. I'm also one of those folks who qualify for SNAP, but don't need it yet. However, the discount for Prime may make it worthwhile.

My local grocery store has a good deal for home delivery which will be great for that 2 month period I'm not going to be able to drive when I have surgery on my leg.

Can't do without internet because I'm losing my vision and the only way I can read anything, including government forms, is a large screen on my computer. I understand that some providers are now discounting internet service for those with certain types of disabilities. Our contract is done in a couple of months - will have to see what our service provider will offer.

Deciding what to buy and when and how is one of the ways I entertain myself these days.

I had to read the article again because I thought I'd misunderstood it after reading through the comments. I think the timing of this is because starting next year Amazon, Walmart, and others will be part of a test program where people will be able to use SNAP.
Quote:
Food-stamp grocery purchases are set for an overhaul with a new test allowing online food stamp payment. Amazon and Wal-Mart are among 10 in a two-year pilot by the U.S. Department of Agriculture planned to start next year.
So that may or not be a good deal for people depending upon what area they live in and what their access to stores is.

Personally I don't have Prime because I don't like to watch TV or movies on my phone, tablet, or laptop. And though I suppose 2 day delivery would be nice, I don't shop there enough to justify spending that $99. If I did pay for it, I would probably have the mindset of "I have to get my money's worth so buy stuff at Amazon" (I'm sure that plays into the why people who have Prime spend more there).

Personally, I always think that money could be better spent on books. But I understand others get more out of the program than I would.

I wonder how shipping will be handled in these cases. Two forms of payment? Or free for a certain amount?

Prime doesn't limit one to watching TV or movies only on their phone, tablet, or laptop.

42" Vizio, here, with built-in Amazon app or via the FireTV stick I got for $19 at launch. I could also use an HDMI cable off my tablet or PC or my XBOX.

The only place you don't have access to Prime video is Apple TV and that is changing later this year.

We watch prime video on our tvs, via roku devices. But honestly, we watch prime video very rarely, mostly if there is the occasion good exclusive, or the rare times that both our netflix streams are in use.

I ditched Netflix. Prime Video is my only paid streaming video service and I'm quite happy with it.

I mostly use Prime and Commercial-Free Hulu. I still have Netflix, but I should probably cancel it, for all the more I currently use it. I've also had much better luck with Prime and Hulu's original content than Netflix's.
