So, hidden away in the galaxy apps store on my Samsung tab s, I find kindle for samsung.
Seems to be a custom version of kindle for android and also offers a free book each month. Not retrospective and I have had the tablet for a year., so I missed out on about 12. It seems just like the proper kindle app that my fire tablet came with, same fonts, controls, whispersync etc, except that the bottom margin is annoyingly narrow with no obvious fix. I am posting to ask if anyone else uses it and how it compares with the kindle for android generic sideload able app The free book monthly, for June anyway, was choose one of a preset four. |

It's been discussed for years in many threads. For example, this one talks about each month's book selection and goes back to 2014:

thanks for that info and links re the free books ( which for this month all appear to be in Kindle Unlimited anyway)
I am more interested in comparing (samsung app store) K for samsung with (google play store) K for android. I see some negative comments on the latter in play store, saying recent updates have messed it up. It's no obvious how often K for samsung gets updated or what any differences are . I cannot install both side by aide to compare directly all I am not liking about K for Samsung is the very narrow top and bottom margin, compared with how the Kindle app renders on my Fire tablet. |

Sideloading bugs are reported in play store comments.
I sideload always in epub, to moon, so not an issue for me. I would use kindle app only for actual amazon books, just to have x ray and sync As a test, I switched k for samsung to k for android from play store. Looks identical. I hate the top and bottom margins, which are much better on my fire tablet. Browse store is crap also, it loads amazon website home page |

i spotted more differences.
(I reverted to the for Kindle for samsung install, planning ahead for July free books.) the K for samsung app does not have the new ember bold font option. That is not something I need, but it shows that the app releases are out of sync, as the K for android has it Last edited by stumped; 06-12-2017 at 03:28 AM. |

you can install both the kindle for samsung and the regular kindle app on your phone/tablet at the same time - just use the kindle for samsung to get your monthly book (I get my book, then send it to my Kindle Voyage) then read in the regular one if you prefer that.

I will try that. I thought android did not allow two apps with the same name,

It's their "internal name" that has to be unique, not the name they display to the user. It would be extremely awkward for app developers if the display name had to be unique: imagine the arguments over who had the right to use names like "Notepad"!
