So it could very well be that she is trying to sound out the order number. It really sounds almost like she is saying "system" though, but she gets so quiet that I cannot understand it even with the volume turned all the way up. I wish there was an easy way to attach an audio file to a post here, then I would let every hear for themselves. You can apparently attach almost any kind of file except for an audio file...

I've never heard her say my name, and if she did I think she would use the one associated with the account, and that is Jack. Really odd. Obviously Bezo's Bozos screwed up the programming of her response.
Can I ask for a pronunciation of your first name?

Ceburn is pronounced SEA BURN. Probably a corruption of Seaborne from some point way back in time. It is the first name of my great-grandfather, the father of my paternal grandmother. My paternal grandmother gave it to my dad, and my dad gave it to me. At least he didn't name me Sue! (Johnny Cash song reference for those who didn't catch it.)

Cool I was pronouncing it correctly.
I caught the reference.
I made the mistake of going by my middle name one year.
Not many people sing like Dolly Parton. I'll let you figure out the song.

Gotta be Jolene! A very popular song when I was in high school.

In public school as a child I lived in a small rural town so all the teachers knew to call me Jack when they called roll. But when I went off the college at Texas A&M the professors would use my first name when calling roll. I hardly ever heard my name Ceburn used when I was growing up as neither my dad nor myself used that name. So the professors would call my name and sometimes I wouldn't immediately recognize that they were calling to me. Finally, it would sink in and I would answer back.

In college first day, I knew when they got to me because it was last name, last name, last name, then eventually "Cindy how do you pronounce your last name?"
About 4 years later another of my last name enrolled. (No relation). They would pronounce his name right and then ask is Cindy your mom or do you know Cindy.

Just FYI: My Free Same-Day order arrived a little while ago, one day late. No big deal though as there was stormy weather all over the metropolitan area yesterday and I didn't even place the order until after 1:00pm. It is still raining, and the delivery guy even placed the package into a plastic bag to keep it dry. Contrast that with the soggy mail I got from the USPS yesterday, including a small Amazon package.

I just purchased two Alexa Voice Remotes for Amazon Echo and Echo Dot at $9.82 each, sold by Amazon Warehouse Deals. They are listed as "Used - Very Good: Very minor cosmetic imperfection on the item." This is an excellent price, as they cost $29.99 new.

I use my remote all the time with Echo. It's much easier/more pleasant to speak commands via remote than yell at Echo (especially when music's already playing). It has volume/skip/play/pause controls as well.

Right now, there are still some at that price. Here's the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B01E9AHU8Q

Do you still have to use the wake word with the remote?

The remote looks similar to the one I have for the FireTV. It doesn't have the TV control buttons though. Notice the Microphone button near the top. Assuming it works like the one for the FireTV, you push and hold the Mic button then give a command/ask a question, but you don't preface it with a wake word.

Amazon Echo Look Review

Quote:
The Amazon Echo Look is one of the most peculiar devices to be released by Amazon. The general reaction to it reminds me a lot of the initial reaction to the Amazon Echo when it was revealed. Like many, I didn’t think I’d have much use for a voice controlled speaker, but have since really enjoyed having one. So, while I don’t think I have much use for a voice controlled camera or a “style assistant,” as the Echo Look is being called, I picked one up to see if it had a place in my lineup of Alexa devices.

In the box you get the Echo Look, a power adapter that is identical to the one for the Amazon Echo and Fire TV, apart from the right angle connector, an articulating stand that can be screwed into the bottom or back of the Echo Look, a wall mounting bracket that the stand can slide onto, and a pair of screws with drywall anchors for the mounting bracket. The Echo Look’s two mounting holes use standard photography tripod screw threads.
Quote:
If you asked me a week ago if a voice activated camera that gives fashion advice is worth $200, I certainly would have said no. But if you offered me $200 a year from now to trade away a gallery full of daily photos of my family, I’d certainly keep the photos.
