				ClearInk at DisplayWeek 2017

Not sure if this is news but CLEARink have won best in show at DisplayWeek 2017. It's another contender for low power, reflective displays but claiming decent colour and video frame rates. Andrew Last edited by andyh2000; 06-02-2017 at 04:31 AM. |

WoW! Finally some serious competitor to e-ink! Technology seems great, resolution on these devices wasn't great and there was a colour reflections for some reason but for the beginning it's great! I am impressed that the manufacturing is similar to lcd which should translate to much smaller costs of each display compared with e-ink! It's like their product and technology is strong where e-ink failed for many years: cost, video, colour, flexible screens... I will be following this tech! |

How "low power" is their "low power" claims? Can't watch the video at work.

The exchange between the interviewer and the exhibitor re: battery life goes: I: When you do e-reader and the video platform, how's the battery life? E: The battery life is excellent; compared to LCD there are great power savings because we don't use a backlight. I: How much better?... A lot better. E: 80-90 %. Seems plain to me that the guy is claiming the display is 80-90% more power efficient than LCD. |

The devices he was holding had terrible looking screens. They were washed out and showed a lot of color shadowing. Yuk. They look nothing like the picture depicted in the YouTube video box. Once you view the actual video it looks terrible. I don't think that would be good to read on for very long.

Looks interesting, the interviewer didn't really seem to get that they didn't want to focus on ousting an established company in the industry.
