You must use a smartphone app--either iOS or Android. For those of us still living in the Stone Age, and don't have a smartphone, that leaves us out.

Actually, I do own a smartphone. But by the time the manufacturer, LG, or somebody else loaded all of the crapware on it, there's no room for anything else. And I'm just barely exaggerating!

I installed a 32 GB card, thinking that my problems were solved. But for some reason, while I can get the device to recognize that it is there, it won't use any of it! I'm going to have to contact LG tech support and bug them some more about it.

Oh, a great promotion and great find, by the way.

  • FREE -- Thought Vibration -- William Atkinson/ David Mitchell --> 2.0 hrs --> motivational
Quote:
Thought Vibration: or the Law of Attraction in the Thought World

LearnOutLoud.com is excited to present William Walker Atkinson's Thought Vibration, or the Law of Attraction in the Thought World. With recent interest in New Thought principles at an all time high (such as the Law of Attraction that is the basis for the movie and the book The Secret), we thought it timely to present this cornerstone of the New Thought Movement.

As Atkinson states through this book, the Law of Attraction posits that one should never dwell on the negative, as the "metaphysical principle of life" is embodied in a "law of attraction". In other words, you get what you think about and your thoughts determine your destiny.

Throughout the book, Atkinson gives a detailed examination of how to put this philosophy to practice, giving the reader encouragement as they go along. LearnOutLoud is pleased to bring this book to you in audio form, both as a historical document and a great way to inspire success.

FREE -- Man Who Knew Too Much -- GK Chesterton/ H Wiederman --> 6.9 hrs --> classic

Quote:
Whispersync: Kindle (free) | Audible (free)

Gilbert Keith (G.K.) Chesterton (1874-1936) was an English literary and social critic, historian, playwright, poet, Catholic theologian, debater, mystery writer, and foremost, a novelist. Among the primary achievements of Chesterton's extensive writing career are the wide range of subjects written about, the large number of genres employed, and the sheer volume of publications produced. He wrote several plays, around 80 books, several hundred poems, some 200 short stories and 4,000 essays. Chesterton's writings without fail displayed wit and a sense of humor by incorporating paradox, yet still making serious comments on the world, government, politics, economics, theology, philosophy and many other topics. His talent as a mystery writer is displayed in his collection of detective stories, The Man Who Knew Too Much. In each story, the star detective, Horne Fisher, deals with another strange mystery: the vanishing of a priceless coin, the framing of an Irish "prince" freedom fighter, an eccentric rich man dies during an obsessive fishing trip, another vanishing during an ice skate, a statue crushing his own uncle, and a few more.

Includes "The Face in the Targe", "The Vanishing Prince", "The Soul of the Schoolboy", "The Bottomless Well", "The Fad of the Fisherman", "The Hole in the Wall", "The Temple of Silence", and "The Vengeance of the Statue".

Amazon Alexa -- Monthly Offer -- exp 30 Jun

FREE -- Ponzi Supernova -- Steve Fishman/ S Fishman, et al --> 2.6 hrs --> documentary

Note: this title is borrowed, you do not own it -- just ask: "Alexa, what's free from Audible?"

This title has been free on Audible since April. See this post for details.

Quote:
Ponzi Supernova is an original audio series that profiles Bernie Madoff, the Wall Street financier sent to prison for orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme in history. The series, hosted by journalist Steve Fishman, includes hours of unheard conversations with Madoff behind bars, as well as interviews with law enforcement and the victims.

In a review, Lulu Miller, of NPR’s Invisibila, wrote: “At times alluring, at times disgusting, it’s the push and pull that makes the magic of this series. You experience nonconsensual bouts of empathy for Bernie, and moments later find yourself repulsed by his seeming lack of remorse for his victims, not just their financial ruin, but even their deaths. This is a needed listen for anyone curious about what actually went down, and anyone hopeful of sparing ourselves from another implosion in the future."

Ponzi Supernova is a premium Audible Original series. Every day, millions of listeners enjoy true life stories, must-hear audio documentaries and fearless comedy. Available free to Audible members and Amazon Prime members by tapping Channels in the Audible App.

Please tell me how.

I log in to Audiobooks.com, choose the book of the week, click on "download," get this message in a pop up:
"Download this book to your Apple or Android device using our free Audiobooks.com app. Head to the App Store or Google Play to get the app and start downloading instantly!" Below that are two options: "iOS--Available on the iPhone App Store" and "Android--Android App on Google Play."

I remember now why I haven't liked buying from Audiobooks.com much, if at all, before--they're not quite ready for prime time, IMHO. Of course, getting free audiobooks from them improves my attitude toward them considerably.

I just noticed--someone may have pointed this out already, and I missed it, if so I apologize!--that while there is an audiobook for each week, "the free download period only lasts 24 hours (emph. mine, G)." I must still be within the 24-hour period, though, because I went through all of the process (for Google Play) just now except for actually making the actual "purchase" at Google Play.

And I am sooooooo wanting to learn the Japanese art of declutering [sic, but it's correct] and organizing. (but are they better than Martha Stewart? I find it hard to believe).

Look in your library at Audiobooks.com. Is the book listed?

Technically, the offer expired this morning at 9am ET.

Google Play has nothing to do with getting the book. It's only needed to get the Android app.

No, but I found out that I have no membership. I had forgotten that I signed for a trial and the trial expired. I have a grand total of one audiobook in my library right now.

OIC. So you can listen without the iOS or Android app? But if I want to listen on a smartphone, I have to install one of those apps?

I do remember, now, listening, on a PC, to part of the free book that I received during the trial period.

Get the audiobook, ebook and syncing of the two, for only $2.98! Yep, it's a Whispersync deal.

Unveiled Threat: A Personal Experience of Fundamentalist Islam and the Roots of Terrorism. By Janet M. Tavakoli.

Tavakoli is a highly and very highly rated author of books on a variety of subjects.

I consider 4.3 (33) at Amazon and 3.98 (44) GoodReads to be a little weak for my standards. But books on polarizing subjects like this one seem to tend to have lower ratings. And it is the #1 seller in one category in the Kindle store. The part of the preview that I read was very interesting, if presented a little matter-of-factly (that does not mean dryly).
