Wouldn't do much good for Monkey to have an Echo Look. It would just keep sending Monkey to the tube sock section of the Amazon Store. Hey, would that be Monkey porn? Bad Amazon, bad...!

It would be funny if the Echo Look sent Monkey to this Amazon Store web page:

Me: "Alexa, play Hello It's Me by Todd Rundgren"

Alexa: starts playing the song without announcing the title and artist. Instead, she starts giving me the definition of a bicycle while the song is playing in the background.

Me:

Somewhere out there in Amazonia, I suspect someone asked Alexa for the definition of a bicycle and she responded with "Hello It's Me by Todd Rundgren on Spotify".

Wow, Alexa must have found that stash of special bananas you keep hidden away!

I use my Tap in the bedroom as my alarm clock. I do wish I could adjust the volume on the alarm. It was so loud. Much louder than the low volume I keep its voice at. I think my Echo (in the living room) has a lower-volume alarm. It went off once instead of the Tap and it was low-volume.

You can adjust the alarm volume in the Alexa app under Alerts & Alarms.

Another epic Echo fail

I placed an order yesterday with Free Same-Day delivery. I didn't really need it the same day, but it was offered so I took it. I got a text message about 4:45pm that it had shipped and would be delivered by 9:00pm. That means the Amazon contractor delivery service has the package and is driving across the metropolitan area (30+ miles) to make the delivery. Okay, but that is rush hour in a area of 7.2 million idiots, none of whom can drive correctly, at least during rush hour. Well it didn't get delivered last night. Overnight I received an email stating the package had been delayed and to get in touch with them if I didn't receive it by Tuesday. I've gotten these CYAA statements before, so no big deal. (CYAA = Cover Your Amazon A##.) On a whim I decided to ask the all knowing, all seeing Alexa where my package was.

Me, "Alexa, track my package."

Alexa, "I can find no open orders @#$%."

I asked several times but I could never understand her "@#$%" comment. It was a single word, but no clue which word. Alexa cursing in her native language? Not sure. But WTF! Alexa, that wise, all seeing, all knowing entity had no clue about my order. What a useless POS she has become.

Well I guess I need to go make up with Siri and see if she will take me back...

ETA: I'm not surprised the package was not delivered on time. Since they initiated the drive across the metropolitan area during rush hour with heavy rain storms throughout the area, I never thought they would get it to me last night. No big deal. I'll probably get it today. I already got a new text message stating it is on the way. But what gripes me is that whenever I get packages delivered by Amazon's own delivery service, they always seem to deliver late at night between 7:00 and 9:00pm. I wish they would use 7:00pm as the cut off time rather than 9:00pm. Also, if your package is being delivered by Amazon's own delivery service (Carrier: AMZL US), there is no apparent way to track it except on the Amazon Order page. The tracking number is internal only and there is no external tracking website.

Jack, did the order number start with letters? She was probably reading it as a word.
You should hear our weather radio at times. Sprayberry becomes Strawberry and Notrees becomes Not tres. Notrees is pronounced No trees.

Yes, it starts out with TBA followed by a long string of numbers. I've listened to her reply at least 6 times now, and still have no clue. She states "I found no open orders", then there is a pause like she is looking up some information, then in a quieter voice she utters the last word. So it could very well be that she is trying to sound out the order number. It really sounds almost like she is saying "system" though, but she gets so quiet that I cannot understand it even with the volume turned all the way up. I wish there was an easy way to attach an audio file to a post here, then I would let every hear for themselves. You can apparently attach almost any kind of file except for an audio file...

I recorded the Alexa response on my iPhone, and have listened to it several times since. I sounds like the word is just gibberish. The word sounds like "fisburn" or something similar. My first name is Ceburn, which has a similar ending, but I doubt she is trying to pronounce that. I've never heard her say my name, and if she did I think she would use the one associated with the account, and that is Jack. Really odd. Obviously Bezo's Bozos screwed up the programming of her response.
