Tried it -- even opened several books from a collection, but still Recommended remains. Sigh....

I'm pretty sure it was added in the late 2.x or early 3.x. At the same time they added the options to display kepubs page numbering as full book.

"Recommended" changed to the most recently opened Collection for me. That doesn't help Filmbrain, but you have no idea how happy I am that something is finally working as it's supposed to for me.

Thanks for mentioning the long press on the progress stat, folks. That is VERY handy.

Is there a way to get Pocket articles to show up on the home screen?

My Aura HD has Recommended in the upper right spot. I can make it disappear if I open three or four books, but if I mark those books as finished or as unread then the Recommended tile reappears.

That would explain why I never see it, then. Although I only ever read one book at a time there will always be more than 4 books which have been opened for various testing purposes at some point.

I just wanted to let folks know that the Kobo Mini works great with this update. Syncing works. The screen is responsive. The only glitch that I've encountered is that an Overdrive library loan has two copies now! One is an Overdrive copy, complete with expiration date, and the other is an Overdrive free ebook. They're not the same book. Their current reading page is different. None of the other library books were cloned. I've powered off and reboot, but the dupe remains. I haven't popped it out of its case and pressed the reset button, however. Is there anything else I should check to ensure full compatibility?

At any rate, Kobo Mini looking good on 4.4.9.

Now it's time to update your mini yet again.

Is there any way to get rid of the recommended tile? I never buy books from Kobo, and the titles that appear there are embarrassing as hell, and in NO way reflect the kind of books I read. (The 3 that appear are The Hunger Games, 50 Shades of Grey, and The Bible.) I have gone in and said "Not Interested" to all 40+ books on the list, but each sync puts back utterly awful books.....

(I'm on an Aura HD.)

Thanks....
I'm sorry, but I'm dying. That's hilarious. I know it's not to you.

Kobo really ought to have a blacklist of books that never get recommended, no matter what their (truly poor) algorithms predict and 50 Shades and the Bible should be in the top ten.

After years as a customer and hundreds of purchases, Kobo still has no clue what I like to read.

Thanks for the affirmation not to let Kobo access my devices ever again.

Won't happen. Not when publishers pay retailers like Kobo to list those books. Because advertising revenue.

Still, that particular combination of books is hilarious.

I suspect that particular combination is books is simply their three best sellers.

Kobo actually does somewhat okay with my recs. Perhaps because I stick pretty much with SFF which often comes in series. I also read quite a bit from Kobo and rate them. Sometimes something will be off, but not 50 Shades bad!

This seems unlikely to me. None of these books are currently on the NYT best sellers lists, nor are any in Kobo's top 50 as of this writing. That leaves two possibilities in my mind. One is that Kobo are being paid to promote those books. The other is patently absurd.

I tweak my recommendations a lot, so they are pretty good, but it takes forever and a day (ok, a week) for anything I don't like to disappear despite marking it repeatedly, and there's no option not to use a book for recommendations. I'm not sure why I keep doing it. It's weird.:

I don't mean current bestsellers. Who's paying them to promote The Bible? And both of the others are old news - I doubt there's a lot of active, paid promotion for them right now.
