Now I'm curious what greens ended up with. Which reader when you're talking different screen sizes and other features really is up to the individual user preferences.
If those were my only choices, then it would definitely be H2O for me since I need IR touch and I carry my reader with me everywhere, so the 6" screen is a better fit. I also prefer the raised bezel for the reasons Braid already mentioned above. But you're strictly a home reader and rarely take the reader on daily trips, or if you read a lot of technical books or PDFs, then you probably would prefer the larger screen of the Aura One. As I said, it's all a matter of personal preferences about what and where you read. Let us know what you ended up buying though and how you like it. |

In my trouble-shooting trained mind that means the issue is with the cards. If it was with the Kobo devices it would be wide spread.

The issue is not with the cards. As soon as the firmware is downgraded to the previous version, the SD card is seen again, and all the books are there. Upgrade, the card disappears. Downgrade, the card is seen.

Interestingly, today I've decided to move back to my (original) H2O for ePubs and Nickel usage. I like the portability.
I think I'll keep my Aura One as a KOReader device for academic pdfs and manga. It works very well that way. In fact, if it was 1 inch larger it'd be even better. I just wish KOReader didn't crash so often. edit: also, I just patched it to disable WiFi firmware update. I'm tired of it getting auto-downloaded. This trend of uncontrollable firmware updates in modern devices is completely unacceptable, especially when they go hand-to-hand with worse programming practices, worse performance and much less QA. This is not just about Kobo, by the way - I have similar stories about several other devices that I own. Last edited by pickyaxe; 05-16-2017 at 07:24 AM. |

the problem is that I'm not happy about what pepole say about the battery of the aura one. I wish to be sure I can read at least one book of 800/1000 pages without having to charge it (with wi-fi off and back light to 1/5 of it's power). If you have any suggestion I would be really grateful. p.s. Will the new H2O have a smaller battery life than Aura one? I saw this. Link 1 say "Battery Life: Last for weeks*" https://us.kobobooks.com/products/ko...-h2o-edition-2 Link 2 say "Battery Life: Up to 1 month*" https://us.kobobooks.com/products/kobo-aura-one#tab-2 Last edited by greens; 05-16-2017 at 04:28 PM. |

Your troubleshooting would have steered you astray in this case. The cards are fine, the issue is that the Kobo firmware now requires them to be named -something- rather than the default names given to them. So the issue is a change in the firmware.

I'm lead to believe there will be a new f/w that will remove the labeling requirement.

Wow. That is... that's a mistake, not a change. That's really sloppy firmware coding.

at the end... I got the Aura One, it's very very nice and confortable when reading.
There is only a little strange thing, when it's night and the internal light is set to low I can see a little orange stain at the bottom of the screen. It is not so distracting, but I wish to know if the most of the aura one have this kind of problem because if it is like this is useless to change it (I could find the same problem in another unit or maybe worse). Please let me know! bye! ![]() |
