Series number for box sets

I was helping a friend set up Calibre to manage their ebooks. They have quite a few box sets where a single volume includes between 3 and 5 books from a series. The question is if it is possible to have the series number show the individual book numbers so you would see something like:

Code:
book title: The Three of Swords
series name: Fafhrd and Grey Mouser
series number: 1.00,2.00,3.00

book title: Swords' Master
series name: Fafhrd and Grey Mouser
series number: 4.00,5.00,6.00
At first I was going to say no but then decided to bounce the question around here in case I was missing the obvious.

various schemes have been tossed about, including
EPUBSPLIT (the PI)

I use firstbook.lastbook 2 digits each side of the dot (falls apart over 99 )

The series number field accepts only a single, floating point number.

That's what I thought but wanted to double check before delivering the can't be done answer. I suspect we'll be going with theducks' suggestion. Might be just a bit faster than waiting for the series field to allow multiple entries.
