[Android] Has anyone other than theducks tried CC against the new content server?

I am soon going to release a new beta fixing the CC/calibre V3 content server bug that theducks found. If anyone else has found other issues with CC & calibre V3 then it would be nice to hear about them.

Today I used CC to transfer about 25 ebooks and update the metadata for about 300 ebooks also updated the epubs for about 175 ebooks using the calibre V3 and wireless device/sync books on my retired Android tablet. Using the content server I can connect--it does not ask for username or password--displays "Index of content server" no books are displayed.

Charged up and updated this tablet just to do some testing.

Android 4.4.2 Kernel 3.4.67 CC 5.2.52

Using Linux Mint 18.1

Sounds like some of the V3 changes to content server authentication have broken CC. For example, V2 didn't have "basic" authentication, which was added to V3.

In calibre, which connection method (http or https) and authentication method are you using?

I've only browsed a bit (I used the wireless connection yesterday without problem) but I've been able to change libraries and search books without problem.

No need. I just found the problem. CC checked for authentication by touching the root page. The V3 server can sometimes pass messages back when that page is touched, which makes CC think the page is not secured with a username/password. I changed CC to do the security check with /opds, which works. V3 correctly reports back an authentication error.

The fix will be in the next beta release, probably tomorrow.

I was using "auto" for authentication. I nave not tested against ipv6 unless the auto setting in CC use it.

It works
What I tested:

1. password
2. displays options;
3. downloaded books
4. changed libraries
5. used the auto connect
6. used router external ip address
7. used ipv6 ip address
   

The wireless connection worked with no problems at this time.

The fix for the small screen also worked.

In the "help/explanation" dialog boxes: include the checkbox with the text in the scrollable area. This prevents the checkbox being hidden on some devices, ensuring that it cannot be checked.

Testing with the V5.2.6.3 beta CC now will only show to the max OPDS query set in calibre which defaults to 30--no button to show more books. Changing the max OPDS query allows more books to be shown.

With calibre 2.85.1 all books are shown.

I don't see this.

First: no version of CC has buttons to advance the list. It happens automatically when the list is scrolled.

Second: I am seeing the automatic advancement. I tried the following:

• Connect to a library containing 77 books.
• Choose By Title
• I can scroll to see all 77 books. CC asks for then 30 at a time.

And this:

• In calibre, change "Max number of books in OPDS feeds" to 5
• Connect CC to calibre
• Go to Authors. Select an author with more than 5 books.
• I see all the books.

In the debug log I see CC asking calibre for more data when it is needed.

What are you doing when it doesn't work for you?

What are you doing when it doesn't work for you?

I just tried it again and after all day on Tuesday now can not repeat. Makes me remember all the times in the Software/hardware Development Lab I worked at why we always seem to need a drink at the end of the day.
