He also talked about an Ender's Game movie... that was in 2005 from what I can tell. I just searched the web and found something about it coming out in 2008... but nothing. Anyone heard any news about this?

Anyway... one interesting thing that he talked about was how due to his playwrite background his books are very dependent on dialog. He doesn't do alot of overly descriptive scenes. He said that the books he writes were really meant to be read nee performed by voice actors. So, he feels even though the movie will be great that the audiobook was in his opinion probably the best presentation of his books. Funny, he also talked about how the Motion Picture was considered the "high" art form these days. How people say "That book was so good, it should be a movie." To which his thought was, it is an awesome book, why can't it be left at that. (Maybe I should have created an Ender's Game thread.) BOb |

Nevermind, they have nothing. I've heard rumors in the past. I'm guessing since it isn't on IMDB you've got a while to wait. |

Considering the recent crop of movies coming from Hollywood, it might be better that they leave Ender's Game alone by now. They would probably strip out all the darkness and loneliness of Ender's and make it a buddy movie.

bigmoney; That has been my opinion of book movies/adaptations of shows etc. for the past ten years or so... When I hear about something being made I cringe... When I hear it is being directed by Uwe Boll or Michael Bay I weep...
![]() And Ender does seem more difficult then most, without turning it into a buddy film, or something for the paedophiles. -MJ |

The only recent book adaptation that I enjoyed, lately, was Lord of The Rings. Which is interesting because it seemed to be the hardest of all to get right, considering its scope and pace. But it probably worked out because the director was a total outsider.

I just finished Hokus Pokus by Fern Michaels. It was one of the $1 books from Sony. It is completely ridiculous, but I have been reading some heavy stuff lately, so it was the antidote. It is not a good stand-alone, being part of some series or another, but you can figure out the jist of the thing pretty easily. It isn't brain food, but it is nice, pleasant, fluffy brain dessert.
By the way, it has absolutely nothing to do with magic. I still don't get the reason for the title. |

The director was also a huge fan. Which can help. He got it from the start.

I just started reading Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns, who took up writing as a way to get through her cancer treatments at about the age of 60.
The character development is very good, and the book is both touching and entertaining. There's a sequel that Ms. Burns had partially completed before her death...I plan to read the sequel next. Also picked up Enemy Women by Paulette Jiles because I liked her book Stormy Weather. Both are historical novels. |
