Thanks for your reply. I usually just close the cover and then let it power off after 60 minutes (if I havent picked it up again). I read for max a few hours a day.

I was hoping the whole Calibre aspect of it all but that might be needed then ;-)
Its the top margin that basically is non existing and there is no setting for that, back to Calibre again?

Maybe there is an "epub to kepub" converter online somewhere?

again, thanks for your answers

One more thing. The inkpad pocket book had a feature that allowed BOTH left and right touch on the screen to move to the next page. And just a smaller touch point down left to go back. Is there anything like this?

Look in the Reading Settings for the configurable tap zones (among other things).

Unfortunately, there is no setting to change the right tap to go forward. I miss that on my new Aura One also.

I see the four choices I always did:

Back: left one-third, menu: middle third, forward: right one-third
Back: left one-third, forward: right two-thirds, menu: mid-bottom
Forward: left two-thirds, back: right one-third, menu: mid-bottom
Back: top, menu: middle, forward: bottom (my choice)

Mine, too. But none gives the choice of left tap forward and right tap forward. I'm using the third one which gives a large left tap forward area, but the right one is still back.

Yep. Plus of course you can always touch anywhere on the screen to page forward or backward, so long as you do a small swipe

Hi u-gee, I don't have an A1 any more (returned it because the bad touch response on my device was driving me crazy) but IIRC there is a slider that lets you choose how yellow the screen gets at night. I believe that if you make that a little whiter, it should reduce the amount of green that you are seeing (since the yellow/orange is made by mixing red and green) and you may be able to find a good balance.

Thanks for your tip; the only setting I found bearable though was with Natural light completely off. Maybe the bad impression I had of the feature left me hyper sensitive to the effect: once I knew there'd be too much green I felt like it was hurting me when it probably was just a hint of green yet.

I received my Aura One yesterday but sadly have to return it. I could only read a few pages and then the screen would freeze up to the point that several hard resets (I even tried a couple of factory resets) were necessary to be able to read a few pages again - and then the whole cycle would start again.

I hope the replacement unit will work better. I was otherwise very happy with the Aura One. There was the dreaded green discoloration with the comfort light on and the screen was insufficiently lit at the top but I think I could have lived with it.

Good luck! Sounds like you got a lemon. I can relate, my first Aura HD had a perfect screen, but a VERY bad habit of both the glow light flickering and turning several pages at once. I exchanged. The next had pinholes in the light layer. Third replacement was the charm, and I'm still using it 3 years later when my KA1 needs a charge.

So don't be afraid to keep trying. It's frustrating, but once you get a good device in hand, worth it.

Thank you! The replacement is scheduled to arrive tomorrow and I hope for a good one. I would much prefer to keep my Amazon returns as low as possible and needed to exchange a couple of Kindles in the past.

I'm so looking forward to a good unit, the large screen and the colour temperature adjustment are just wonderful.

It is barely discernible, to the extent that I am not sure that it would show up in a photo, especially as I seldom have the light on at more than 5%. Indeed, I hadn't even noticed it until reading your comment.

(Just checked my original Kobo Aura. It has the same extremely narrow band across the bottom so I suspect that it is entirely normal and not a defect. Never noticed that either.)
Here's a pic, the lighting isn't great in the room but if you look along the bottom edge, particularly the bottom left corner you can see the glow and possibly the faint cones. The washout/yellow coloring on the top/right is just the overhead lamp, it's totally smooth otherwise (no green blotches or color issues with the natural light settings).

Edit: Actually doesn't show well in the first pic, here it is in the dark where you can see the glow and the cones a little better -

Is this more or less normal for everyone else?

I use the bottom-forward as well, I found with this setup I can hold it one-handed with my thumb on the bottom bezel, then just slide my thumb quickly up-and-down to change the page one-handed!
