It is just after 6 am here. I have been awake all night surfing today's deals at Amazon.ca. There were so many things of an electronic nature that were mysteries to me so of course, I had to check them out. The next thing I know, it is after 4 am. Of course, my dog wanted to go out the minute I shut out the light even though he knew I was going to try to sleep even though it was already getting light out. I had cleaned up parts of my vacuum cleaner so I put them back together and the next thing I know, I am vacuuming the whole bloody upstairs of the house. I was hauling the vacuum down to the basement to do more when I gave my head a shake. So I am now lounging in bed, dog sleeping beside me, wondering why it is taking so long for the letters I have typed to show up here. Perhaps it is because I am on my bloody phone which had most of its "smartness" hijacked by a rogue motherboard in my PC. It stripped out all of my contacts and photos. Peeved me to no end when even the folks at the Apple store were baffled.
Just started and tossed off into a box of books for the hospital I send my books to for their fund-raising for new programs for breast cancer survivors, the Kate Mosse "book", The Winter Ghosts. While it may have turned out to be a good short story or even a novella, the extra large print, the pictures that only slightly went with the story etc. made me feel like I was reading a book for the barely literate. She must have owed a book to her publisher and this is what she turned in. Don't waste your energy on this one. I liked her big books,Labyrinth and Sepulchre but she seems to need the massive book to showcase her talent. Temperatures here for the next few days will be in the mid-20Cs so my other passion, gardening, is in full swing. I have both fibromyalgia and arthritis and I need a knee replacement but I try to get a few hours in every nice day. I should go shopping for my tomatoes at the nursery before all of the interesting ones are gone. The big planting weekend in this neck of the woods is the Victoria Day weekend around May 24th but like last year, our April has been more like early June but it has been 18c one day and snowing the next. I have to start signing in on my tablet as trying to type a message on my phone is driving me bonkers. Hope to keep up with the chatter here and elsewhere on the site too. Cheers!! |

Calling around today hoping to get in on some type of hospitality house deal here in Houston. The hotel rates are really steep, and it looks like my daughter and I will be here for at least another month. She'll be starting a one month drug trial for her leukemia starting Tuesday.

Thanks, everyone. Our appointments are first thing in the morning this morning, so we should have some more time to call around this afternoon.

Agreed - the hospital social worker should have information on lodgings close to the hospital -- sometimes they even get special rates for patients' families.

The social worker gave us the leads we've been calling.

I've just packed up my art supplies for my vacation.
Initially I had decided to only take a colouring book and my coloured pencil set with me. However, when cleaning up my desk I came across the various watercolour sets I bought during the past year and still haven't used. I decided to put a small kit together with the sets, water resistant pens, some brushes and a watercolour pad. This morning I decided that it wasn't good for my brushes to be chucked together with most other things in a pouch. I looked online for a nice storage option when I realized that I had the perfect solution: my tray box, which has been sitting, empty and unused for a while now. Only my big watercolour paint set, an extra sketch book and my sketch pencil set are too big. I'm now thinking of leaving my colouring book and pencils at home and focus on getting rid of my fear of creating something less than perfect (resulting in me not creating at all). |

I'm doing a little happy dance. Today I've finished cleaning my rooms. Which means that this week, besides packing for my vacation, I focus on creating. For mother's day I normally make a card, but I'm not in the mood for that right now, so I'm making a paper succulent to go with the money I'm giving my mother (she's saving up for a grilled cheese griller). I also want to make a start with catching up with my photo journalling (got stuck in September last year).
