Kobo e-reader and calibre settings.

Hey guys, I recently bought Kobo aura 2nd edition e-reader and yesterday I downloaded a free book from Kobo ebook store, and the book had some new features added to it. So naturally, I took time to find out how that feature could be added or implemented to any book, and learned of kepub-epub joint format. So I downloaded the latest edition of Calibre software and all the extensions, and followed the instructions (I checked and unchecked ). But just when I thought that I made it happen with an ebook, because the conversion went swell and I did get the kepub-epub format, the cool feature showed 2 hrs for an entire book instead of a lot more, since the book I converted was Moby Dick. So I'm asking you, if there is a way, to help me fix this so it would show the correct time.

I think it's the well known stats bug in the newer firmwares (look in the thread for the 4.3.9084 version) for sideloaded kepubs. It is not a problem with calibre.

I don't think this the stats bug. That is about how the stats are recorded and displayed. I haven't seen any problems with the predicted time to read either for a chapter or the whole book. I'm pretty sure the stats are used to calculate the time to read, so it might be affected by the bug. It could also be a problem with the construction of the book.

Where are you seeing the bad time? And how are the predictions for the current and next chapters?

On the bottom of the ebook, and my current predictions are 2. minutes for an entire chapter and 2.1 hours for the entire ebook. Hope that explains it.

First: have you actually read a kepub book yet? Time remaining is calculated on what the Kobo thinks your average reading speed is.. if all you've done so far is flipped through a few books, the Kobo might think you're a really fast reader. the estimate should be much more accurate after a few hours of actual reading.

The Remaining time to read estimates are affected by the bugs/deffective design that affects Kepub reader and books that do not have a ToC entry for every file. You can fix a book by opening it in the Calibre editor, edit the table of contents, remove all the existing ToC entries, and generate a new ToC from files. You then have to rename all the ToC entries that did not automatically pick up the correct heading, (but this is only cosmetic.)

A friend of mine found a way to fix it for me, so I don't have a problem with that cool feature anymore . It now works perfectly and shows the correct time.

They said that they removed DRM protection, and then they followed the process, and once the process was done, they put the ebook through the latest version of calibre on my kobo e-reader, which converted it into kepub-epub format, and then they somehow reset the hours read on my kobo, and turned off the wifi.
