Downloadable ESV without links
I'm sick of dealing with corruption in Word and Powerpoint caused by links in scriptures cut and pasted into them. Can anyone point me to a searchable ESV without links?

Now the difficulty is getting a preview from somewhere, so you can find an edition that eliminates the scripture citations. You may want to check out the previews at books.google.com to see if any of them might be of help. Last edited by GtrsRGr8; 04-23-2017 at 10:40 PM. |

As far as the New Jerusalem Bible, I'm looking for something that's an epub, PDF, or something that I can turn into an epub or PDF. Additionally, the version that's available at WORDsearch and Logos is the "Reader's Edition", which has no translation footnotes or paragraphs. I think I've become spoiled on the combination of Calibre and ereaders. I actually have a bunch of resources for Logos, but I barely use it anymore. I've repurchased just about everything that I want as "generic" ebooks, but there are still a few holdouts. A few publishers, apparently, are OK selling resources for Bible software, but not as regular ebooks (the Ryrie Study Bible is another one on my wish list). The HarperCollins Study Bible will be available this week, though, which has me pretty excited. Quote:

God or Godless? by John Loftus and Randal Rauser is $0.99. Each chapter is a short discussion of a particular topic in the style of formal debate (opening statement, rebuttal, closing statement). Loftus is an atheist and Rauser is a Christian apologist.
Even though Loftus competently argues his side, the topics are varied enough to allow Rauser to address a lot of theology that isn't normally discussed. I'm pretty sure that Rauser's thoughtful responses are what prompted Baker to publish the book. eBooks.com Kobo B&N Christianbook (where it's $0.79) Amazon |

I don't think that this has been mentioned before; if so, please forgive.
Amazon has the CSB (v.2) Kindle edition for free right now. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06ZYV8X65/. I'm interested in reading the preface, but especially reviews by others where they discuss the differences between v.1 and v.2 (prefaces of Bibles are largely publicity, IMHO). It appears that neither Christianbook, nor Kobo, nor B&N has this (yet?). So maybe this is a limited rollout right now. |

It looks like the others have it, just not for free.
The "KindleUnpack" plugin for Calibre will unpack the .azw3 file into the epub3 used as the source file, if anyone is so inclined. Unfortunately, the only reader I've found that does a decent job on Holman's epub3 books is the reader built into Calibre. |

It seems like the HCSB is available free "everywhere" nowadays. Maybe that will be the case eventually with the CSB v. 2. |

I've got to hone my searching skills, I couldn't find the book at either Kobo or B&N. I didn't try at ebooks.com. But your use of ebooks.com has made me more aware of them. If only they had 20% off on all books all of the time, instead of 20% off of only certain subjects for a certain length of time! But, I learned, a long time ago, to be patient and to wait for a cheaper deal to come along before buying, if I possibly can (I can't relate to these people who decide that they want an ebook, and order it right then at full (discounted) price! |

I pretty much ignored ebooks.com until Agency pricing took off. Their books are all publisher suggested price and I've only gotten the 20% off to work on a single book. When Agency books are on sale, though, they're typically on sale at ebooks.com, too. Their DRM is strictly ADE, their website makes sense, and they're happy having me download books to my PC without needing a special device, all of which seem too much to ask the others. Christianbook is a close second, but they only have Christian books.
I typically use eReaderIQ for the books that I want. I used to feel guilty because their revenue came from affiliate links, but Amazon killed eReaderIQ's affiliate account, so now it doesn't matter. |

Maybe ChristianBook can branch out into secular books one of these days. But, they never have shown any interest in it, that I know of, and I was buying from them long before they were ChristianBook, back in the Puritan and Reformed era. And I doubt that they have the budget for it, anyway. If they've got some spare cash lying around, I think (and hopefully they do, too) that they should use it to make some changes to their website to make it more user-friendly, if nothing else. I knew that eReaderIQ used affiliate links, because I've always had to remember to truncate that part of an URL before posting the URL on MobileRead. I also was aware that Amazon put the kibosh on that, about a year ago, I guess. Do you object to any website using affiliate links to make revenue? I don't see what would be objectionable--those affiliates, in many if not most cases, provide a valuable service and they can't do what they do for free. And, for some, probably eReaderIQ included, that is/was their only source of revenue. And if you objected to the affiliate links, couldn't you have always truncated that part of the URL before navigating to the product page? |
