You want to kill an hour or 3, go over to cookingbites. Small forum, mostly Brits with a few others thrown in. It is all some sort of English, but it may take several posts to make the recipe world friendly.

![]() Changing the phrasing was not really the problem, it was understanding that it might be necessary. |

Maybe it's a gender thing. My first thought on reading "falsies" was teeth, my second was breasts.
In the UK, sausages are called "bangers", so: throw another banger on the Barbie. Poor Barbie! |

Oh and I am also female and I certainly didn't think teeth when I read falsies. I thought of padding. |

Then maybe it's because I'm a female Brit. Who knows?

I was thinking the way one was raised. I don't think gender has anything to do with how one interprets something.
Well with the exception of certain males but those think with the wrong head. But please always say it is because you are female. You mention your gender every time you post. Yet, you thought I was male because I didn't agree with you on something you wrote. Hey guess what, not all females think alike. |

Twenty or thirty years ago, I would have said teeth. Now my first thought is breasts.

Definitely Padding
![]() Take out my 'Choppers' was in use when I was younger. Most certainly a regional usage. ![]() |

I am ashamed (well, disappointed anyway) to say that I've written very little on this project since I started this discussion. Damn work! But the "falsies" are gone.

Heh.
I thought "false eyelashes". Then boobs. Then teeth. Re the shrimp on the barbie thing, I always thought the point was sort of a "things are big in Aussie" thing that was going on back around the Crocodile Dundee days. Playing off "That's not a knife, THIS is a knife" and he hauls out a huge one. Shrimps are tiny, if you threw one on a barbecue grill, it'd fall right through... unless it was a huge Australian one. Actually, I just went and found the ad since I haven't seen it in over 30 years, and sure enough that thing he holds up at the very end when he says it is quite a bit bigger than any shrimp I've ever seen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xn_CPrCS8gs |
