I have just downloaded MapleRead and like it very much. I am trying to figure out how to port my metadata from Calibre into MapleRead, specifically the data around the series #s so I can have them as part of the title. I looked at the FAQs but not sure it is contained in there but perhaps I overlooked it. I use to use a plug-in from Calibre to import books with metadata into Marvin however, that plug-in no longer has support.
Anyone using MapleRead been able to import series #s into the app? If you have been successful doing this I sure would love some direction on how to do this. A link or something would be helpful to where I can find this info. |

Have you checked the "Book Info" view of the book? Alternatively, try Sort by Series in Library to see if the series info is really there or not.
When you download a book from Calibre via OPDS, all its metadata, including series, should be downloaded together with the book. Try a new book to verify this point. Does it work? |

@cedhax: THANKS SO MUCH! I figured out how to use the Calibre OPDS server to get my books and download the metadata that included the series number. I went back to the MapleRead FAQs, slowed down and read through the instructions of using the Calibre server functionality. I have the books sorted (per your suggestion) by Series and everything looks great. I no longer have to go to the Internet to find out the next book in the series. Appreciate the post.

@chilady1: You are welcome!
In case you may want to update the metadata (including title, authors, series and volume/number, etc.) of some books you have already downloaded to MapleRead from calibre OPDS server later, you can do so easily and quickly WITHOUT re-downloading the books again, by choosing the Overwrite Metadata option. See the screenshot and explanation in What's New on their website. |

I have downloaded MapleRead CX but haven't started using it yet. I do have a question, though. Does the program mark unread books in any way so I know that they haven't been read yet?

If it is like MR SE, then you can sort the books by Date Read which puts the most recently read books at the top.

HHuumm, I always prefer to sort by date added but still would like to have a way to know which books I haven't read yet. In the program I'm currently using, a simple white astrix in a red box is in the upper right corner of an unread book.
If something like this doesn't already exist, I sure would like to see it be added to the "To Do" list, please. |

Another way to find all your unread books in the library is to use the Hierarchical Booklist view or Hierarchical Booshelf view. Look under the folder "Never Read". |

I'll have to give the Flat Booklist a try though I do admit that I like the look of the bookshelf a bit better.
Now I just have to find the time to load some of my own books into MapleReader and to try some of the features out. |

Has anyone else encountered the problem of MapleRead occasionally losing its place in a book? It's not consistent, but on two separate occasions/books, I open the app and find myself back at the cover instead of my last stopping point. I suppose I could get into the habit of tapping a bookmark onto my last page read every time I exit the app...?

OK, I looked for my previous posts and it apparently started with the 1.6.2 release in January. I posted it as a "crash" initially in post #166. In post 175 I described the sequence. In post 180, sbaylor said he wasn't able to reproduce it and asked if anyone else had the problem. You're the first to report a similar one, perhaps you could post a step-by-step sequence that results in your problem like I did in post 175? Last edited by romad; 04-07-2017 at 10:30 AM. |

The problem with replicating it is that it's so random. I can't consistently reproduce it myself. But here's what I've done whenever it's happened to me:
1. Read a book in MapleRead. 2. Tap the Home button to exit MapleRead. 3. Use other apps (usually Facebook, GoodNotes, Scrivener, and Mail, as those are my primary iPad haunts). 4. Double-tap the Home button and swipe apps closed (including MapleRead). 5. Use other apps (more of the same... I'm boring that way). 6. Open MapleRead. Instead of opening the book to the page last read, it opens to the cover of the book and has lost its place. Nine times out of ten, step 6 opens to the last page I read. But it's that every once in awhile that's vexing. |

Yep, that is pretty much what happens to me except for closing MR. On the times I do close MR, it usually opens to the page I was at; the only time I remember it not going to the page after I opened MR was once when I hadn't gone back for a few days.
