The author is a former paratrooper who is well known on British TV for his travel documentaries. Always very entertaining.

Edit: I see that another of his books, Walking the Himalayas is currently also sale at £2.99. This book apparently won the "2016 Edward Stanford Adventure Travel Book of the Year" award.
To save anyone (else) from the trouble of checking, this book is not currently marked down in the U.S. store.

Not my thang, but it's too highly rated (4.6 (45) Amazon; (about 4.20 (86) GoodReads) and too good of a deal (75% off) not to post.

Knitspeak: An A to Z Guide to the Language of Knitting Patterns. By Andrea Price, Patti Pierce Stone. $2.51. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005HY8NNK.

If you decide to walk the Nile, stay away from the banks. The river is infested with man-eating crocodiles. They'll eat women also.

Maybe you could be willing to buy a physical book? If so, I can send you some good places to check in the U.S., where many of the sellers ship internationally. Other MobileReaders may have some suggestions as to how to get the ebook, information that I do not know.

No need to apologize, you can't help it. Every now and again one is confronted with copyright issues and prices aren't discounted, though it seldom happens that a book simply isn't available. Thanks for the offer to point me in the direction of treebook-sellers. It was a combination of greed and mild interest that drew me to this book, though, so I'll survive without it (which will also give me some space to read the other 1300 books on my reader).

X-link to the General Fiction thread for some non-fiction by a literary author:

Pulitzer Prize-winning author Michael Chabon is the featured Amazon Kindle Gold Box Deal of the Day, and two of his essay collections about the creative process of writing, and the life experience of growing up, respectively, are on sale for just $1.99 each in Canada & the US.

The Crusades Through Arab Eyes (Saqi Essentials). By Amin Maalouf.

I find the subject of this book intriguing. But can anyone make a blanket statement as to what Arabs think of the Crusades? I know that Westerners hold opinions "all over the map" about it.

Saqi Books quit publishing in English for a while. Two or three years ago, they resumed it. Great news, if this book is any indication of the quality and subject matter of their products.

Rated 4.5 stars, from 165 reviews at Amazon.

$2.99 now, representing a huge markdown (84%) from the digital list price.

I should have checked both, if necessary, of the libraries where I have borrowing privileges. However, I don't have any idea when or if I'll get around to reading it (I did buy it), so it probably would have been pointless.

Right now, I'm trying to finish a dead-tree book on the building of the Trans-Siberian Railroad/Railway. It's rather interesting; fascinating, actually.

Now someone is going to post a message to me telling me that I should have mentioned the title. I don't remember that or the author's name, but if someone wants it/them, I'll go check the book to find out.

This is addition to several audiobooks that I've started to listen to, and having to make myself finish, because I need the information, contained therein, for my job.

I put it on my wishlist. And you really don't need to check libraries in addition to all the other research you do. Some people might want to own it.

Yeah, that's one that I've decided to own. If I live long enough, I'll eventually get around to reading it. This is one (I run into this a lot) that I really wish had a Whispersync companion available (reasonably priced). 'Course I guess that it would be possible for Amazon/Audible to bring out one later . . . .

If any of you are Erich Fromm readers, you may wish to know that many of his books are marked way down today. I suggest that, to find them, you go to Amazon's Kindle store and search, by price low to high, for "Erich Fromm."
