It would be cool if a new H2O would use the new i.MX7Dual processor. It's supposed to be an improvement over the i.MX6 in power-efficiency... might offset (a bit anyways) Kobo using smaller batteries like they did in the Aura One.

Going by the FCC filing, the battery in the new H2O is going to be the same size as the old H2O.

Any idea what's new in the new H2O?

The Test Report (JBP) for the original H2O mentions the SD card slot in section 4. The equivalent report for the new H2O does not mention an SD card slot, so I think it is safe to assume there's no SD card slot on the new H2O. What evidence would we see in the firmware that an i.MX7 CPU is being used? Last edited by chrisridd; 04-08-2017 at 03:53 AM. |

It occurs to me that what I'd like most in a new H2O is a similar overall proportion of overall size relative to screen size that obtains in the One. The current H2O is a little large to be fully portable, but slightly scaled down with a 6.8" screen it would be the perfect "everywhere" device, sufficiently petite for out and about, but large enough for at home.

Edge-to-edge would be a disaster on an e-reader. I had a Sharp Aquos Crystal phone that had edge-to-edge display and it looked cool. But it was very easy to accidentally click things. This is an edge-to-edge display: [Image violates Posting Guidelines for size - MODERATOR] Last edited by Dr. Drib; 04-13-2017 at 01:32 PM. |

Well the product info for the Kobo One describes the screen as edge-to-edge.
With fewer and more seamless page turns, the sleek 7.8” Carta E Ink screen has a thin, edge-to-edge design But yes, flush bezel is what I was talking about. |

I would be OK with edge-to-edge e-book reader if the margins (whatever width they are set in current e-book) had a disabled touch function (so no involuntary page turning).
I love my One, but it is slooooow. Kindles are much faster ![]() |

![]() Joking aside, isn't that sort of what the Nook Glowlight Plus has? A white bezel and very narrow margins gives a very similar effect to what you describe. |

But really, their proposal just made me think "what's the point?" An ereader with a white bezel and narrow margins would be fundamentally the same as what they are describing. And they exist already. |

I set margins to minimum width - for me they are useless, because I don't make annotations, and the frame is for holding purposes. That's why I prefer screen flush with the bezel. If there would be edge-to-edge screen, I would like to have possibility to set asymmetric margins - wider one on holding side
