Hi everyone...newbie here,
I spent weeks agonizing over whether to buy an Aura One. From reading the forum my main concerns were...green blobs on the screen and excessive battery drain. I finally bought one for £189.99 (ouch!) from an Argos store. Fortunately the comfort light produces an even gradient with no green blobs and the auto light feature functions beautifully (I'm using firmware 4.3.8966) The capacitive touch screen seems slightly less accurate and responsive than the I.R. touch screens on my other Kobos but not problematically so. With Wi-Fi turned on the battery seems to drain very quickly but since I sideload all my books this is less of an issue. With Wi-Fi turned off the battery drain is acceptable but doesn't compare to my other ereaders which seem to go on for ever before needing a recharge. I'm converted by the large screen size and the warmth of the comfort light but I do miss not having the physical "single press" light on/off button of my Kobo Glo The official sleep cover is way too expensive, I'm using a (non-magnetic) Targus universal tablet cover that I got for £5 from TK Maxx which seems to protect the device quite well. All my previous ereaders were much cheaper (either reduced or second hand, ranging from £10 to £35.) The Aura One was a huge expense for me in comparison but I guess it's worth paying the extra when comparing the price to buying a new standard Aura or H20 |

I saw that custom dictionaries are available for Kobo on the forum, but Kindle's Oxford dictionary is the far better one isn't it? I'll definitely miss the Oxford if I switch to Kobo.
And is this screen alignment issue rare? If it was a software problem, has it been fixed with the updates? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gS9AXAdZznU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nynbm-5aZM4 |

I believe it's turned off by default and you can turn it on. I know I have turned it off, I'm absolutely not interested by those numbers!

The battery is simply a wrong design decision, imo. |

For those looking for a sleeve: I use this https://www.amazon.com/Acme-Made-Ski...made+ipad+mini when I'm not using the official cover. Fits the Aura One perfectly and keeps it well protected (protector side for the screen is built in on one side of the sleeve). |

It's not fake page turns I've found to be the issue with recessed screen; it's the stuff that gets stuck in the edges between the screen and the bezel - hairs, food crumbs, etc. Difficult to keep clean, and looks unsightly. Hence my preference for a flush screen. Looks nicer, and much easier to keep clean. Plus the edge of the bezel doesn't cast shadows on the screen when reading in bright light.

This is why I love the H2O: instead of careful brushing, I can just rinse it under a tap. I like the palpable bezel, I think - it is a guide to not putting my holding thumb into the touch zone.

In general, I would agree. However, Aura one Capacitive can't really be compared to *other* capacititive. Compared to the very well refined IR in H20 (and the discontinued Glo HD), the Aura One Touch screen is a terrible throwback. (That being said, the situation has improved tremendously in the newest patch update. My testing time has been limited, but using a Kepub book, everything was as fast, smooth and responsive as a Kindle.)
