I have a glo HD which I love - however, the micro USB port seems to have developed a problem. I can only charge it with a good wiggle, and it is not transferring files from the computer.

It is only 10 months old so I could take it back to the retailer (Argos in the UK) and hopefully get a replacement. The problem of course is that my replacement would not be the glo HD but I assume either the Aura (which I don't want) or the H2O. I'm also wary of the H2O as the PPI is considerably lower than the Glo HD. Would this be very noticeable when reading? Not sure I really want anything larger either but I don't think that would be a deal breaker. I have seen glo hd models on eBay from Japan.... Is it worth going for one of these instead? Aggghhh why was it discontinued? |

I have an H2O and you won't notice the difference in the PPI. The extra screen size of the h2O is very nice to have.

I haven't used an e-reader with a higher resolution than the H2O so I can't judge on that, but the H2O is amazing because of the extra screen size. You won't regret it and won't want to go to a smaller screen after you get used to it.

I wouldn't swap my Glo HD for a bigger device. I love that it's portable and lightweight. You might get a used one on ebay.

personally i love the Aura 6" therefore i'm rather biased, although for £79.99 argos are virtually giving it away IMHO, and it does have the advantage of being more or less the same size as your Glo HD and it also as the external Micro SD card slot which your Glo HD doesn't have, although you might not be bothered about that. if it was me knowing argos as i do, i would try the Aura first (you might be pleasantly surprised) but if you don't like it take it back and they will exchange it for the H2O which is a nice device and also as the external Micro SD card slot and a bigger screen, but of course it will be a bit more heavier than the Aura and your Glo HD. if you have a WHSmith near where you live you could go in there and see if they have a H2O on display if they do you could try it out before taking your Glo HD back to argos, the decision of course is entirely up to you, good luck with it whatever you decide to do. best wishes koboy

Thanks for all the very helpful comments! I wasn't keen on the Aura when I saw it as I didn't think the text looked as crisp as the Glo HD.

The waterproofing of the H2O could be useful - I have a toddler who likes to chuck water about . Not bothered either way about the memory card slot - thought I'd miss one when I came to the glo after a Sony but haven't missed it at all. Good suggestion about looking in whsmith - I would like to see how much larger/heavier the H2O is. I think dimension wise it's about the same as my old Sony case with a light, so I think that would be fine, but would be good to see whether I'd like a larger screen or not. |

Thanks for the extra info! Does anyone know why the Glo HD was discontinued? It seems odd that Kobo don't have a 300dpi 6" reader to compete with Kindle.

I don't think anyone knows. The only reason suggested was that it was to expansive to build for the price they were selling it at.
