Booxtor a while ago said that it would come to all (or almost all) Onyx models, around April if I well remember.

How are you using your device? The power button on my device has a quite hard click, I can stand the whole device vertically and it still does not press the button.

I've actually never accidentally put my Max to sleep yet. It was another poster who originally raised the issue and I could see how it could be a problem as that has happened to me more than a few times with one of my tablets.

Out of curiosity, just turned my Max on and stood it up vertically on a desk. I quickly got the pop-up box asking me if I would like to shut down my device.

I suppose the buttons on some devices may be more sensitive than on others.

Ups, actually I have the metallic plug from the magnetic cable http://wsken.net/productsinfo.asp
it may stop the pressure as the plug is close to the power button.

Thanks. I have examined the software. Android 4.0.4. The OReader app seems to be not changed. Neo reader 2 is updated. It supports multiple tabs, though it is a bit awkward to use as I would expect a possibility to open next pdf from within the app not just return to library and open another doc. It has a new nice feature though "slideshow", one can configure automatic time based page turns

If you are interested, I attached the extracted apk. Put it into SD of your reader and install from the file browser. It contains all the UI languages so I use it in English (not Chinese).

I downloaded your firmward file and upgraded by Onyx Max from 1.8.1 to 1.8.2.

The reader now has the multi-tab function and boy do I find it very very useful!

I am wondering whether the same update.zip can be used on the N96ML?

I have a Onyx N96ML that is on 1.8.0.x

Can I use the same update.zip on the N96ML also?

Meanwhile, I must say 1.8.2. works very very well for the Onyx MAX.

The Reader is actually MORE responsive even though I tried it with four opened documents, one of them very heavily annotated.

(What's the limit of number of opened documents anyway?)

Onyx Boox firmware coding team ought to be given a medal. More features AND a faster response time.

There are also more options available too!

At this rate, Max Carta would certainly provide ReMarkable Paper Tablet (still vaporware and very serious doubts about that too) a good run for it's money.

See my post above. I have extracted only the Pdf reader which support tabs etc from the 1.8.2 firmware and I have installed the apk on my Max. It is fully functional. I bet the same apk is used on other Onyx ereaders. For convenience you can backup your original apk from the device than upgrade to the new apk. If something goes wrong install again the old saved apk.

HOW-TO:
download the reader.zip, extract, connect your ereader to usb and copy the extracted apk to the device, disconnect device, in device using any file browser find the apk and execute it to upgrade your Neo 2 reader app

One funny part abut the new Slideshow feature of the reader app is that it goes endlessly. The slides show goes page by page till the end, then continue again from beginning until the total page turns reach the set limit. It is very different from PowerPoint slide show and while you can set the page turn limit there is nowhere any indication how many pages is till the end of the doc on the UI. I would like to have there a simple check box "run till the end of the doc". This is just nuisance, of course. I guess that the feature was added more for a display window presentation than for end user usage. Sill I like it very much as I have converted many ppt files to pdf to slide show through them as a rehearsal

Thank you for uploading the 1.8.2 update. The multitabs feature works very well, and as many have noted, is much needed. But does anyone know if it is possible to view two separate pdfs at once, whether in neoreader, or another app?
