Bargain @ 99 cents from Amazon's exclusive AmazonCrossing imprint in Canada & the US:

The Elven by German fantasy author Bernhard Hennen (ISFDB, Wikipedia) & US-born expat resident James A. Sullivan (ISFDB, Wikipedia DE), 1st novel in the Elfen epic adventure fantasy series, translated from the original Die Elfen published in 2004 by Heyne (and successful enough to be translated into a slew of languages, according to Wikipedia).

The international bestseller and epic adventure

A fierce and merciless demon has been unleashed on the world, spreading destruction and bloodshed in both the human and the elven realms. Northlander Jarl Mandred witnesses the ruthless attack on his men, and he seeks vengeance with the help of the elf queen, Emerelle. Despite Mandred’s barbaric human nature, the queen orchestrates an elfhunt joined by the two strongest warriors in Albenmark to pursue the beast. Farodin, the fiercest fighter in the land, and Nuramon, the healer, seize the opportunity to make history alongside Mandred in a life-defining series of battles waged in parallel universes.

The Elven is an epic tale, bringing heroes together across the boundaries of their worlds to avenge past losses and influence fates yet to be decided.

Andre Norton Deal on Lavender-Green Magic

This has been the only one of the 7 book series I had not been able to get for $1.99 or less, until today. Since Andre Norton was so important to me growing up, I am very much of a completest for all her series. I have never read, even as an adult, one of her stories that was actually bad, although some are much less good than others,

1. Steel Magic (1965; also issued as Gray Magic, 1967)
2. Octagon Magic (1967)
3. Fur Magic (1968)
4. Dragon Magic (1972)
5. Lavender-Green Magic (1974)
6. Red Hart Magic (1976)
7. Dragon Mage: A Sequel to Dragon Magic (2008), by Norton and Jean Rabe

Lavender-Green Magic (The Magic Sequence #5) by Andre Norton -->
$1.99 at Amazon US.

When Holly, Judy, and Crockett Wade are sent to live with their grandparents after their father is declared MIA in Vietnam, Holly fears she’ll never fit in at school. The small town of Dimsdale, Massachusetts, is nothing like Boston. Even worse, Grandma and Grandpa Wade live in an overgrown house next to the town dump, a place without electricity or running water! None of the dishes match, and Holly’s grandparents are always bringing back other people’s odds and ends. But an old, smelly pillow embroidered with broken circles leads to strange dreams—and a maze in the junkyard! At first, when Holly and her brother and sister walk through an opening in the maze, they don’t realize they’ve entered another time. But they’re back in colonial New England, where they meet a healer named Tamar—and suddenly Holly is caught in the crossfire between dueling witches. Forced to keep their time-traveling a secret, the three siblings race to save Tamar and their town.

Lavender-Green Magic is the 5th book in the Magic Sequence, but you may enjoy reading the series in any order.

Many Dave Duncan books on Sale for $0.99

There are a *lot* of Dave Duncan books on sale at Amazon US today for $0.99 -- 22 if I counted right. I really enjoyed his Portal of a Thousand Worlds. Not sure how long these prices will last. Enjoy...

I don't know if I just missed them during Open Road's FREE sale or not, but I found 13 ones I didn't have for $0.99, in addition to 14 I'd gotten free before

Enchantment's End (Wells of Ythan Quartet Book 4) by Marc Alexander

Enchantment's End (Wells of Ythan Quartet Book 4) by Marc Alexander is $0.99 at Amazon US.

The thrilling conclusion to the epic quest...

Will they save her?

In the final instalment of the Wells of Ythan quartet, the questers find themselves at the end of the Pilgrim Path where they should find Princess Livia ready and waiting to be awoken from her hundred years’ sleep. She is the rightful heir to the Empty Throne, and will reunite the land once more.

However, they’re faced with yet another obstacle. In order to awaken her, they must take the Princess to the Wells of Ythan to bathe in their mystical waters.

But it’s not the just the heroes who want the healing powers of the Wells.

The Regent, currently ruling with malicious, ambivalent authority over the kingdom, travels to the enchanted springs to restore his health and continue his evil reign of power. He is poisoned, almost to death, and must seek out this cure.

The questers must fight against all odds to restore the Princess to her rightful place. But once they do, that is when the real battle will begin.

The fight for the future of Ythan … or its doom.

In this stunning conclusion, good fights evil in a grand quest to restore the rightful Princess to the Empty throne, and rid the land of evil for good.

From fantasy author Marc Alexander comes Enchantment’s End the fourth and final instalment of the Wells of Ythan series. Follow the unlikely crew of an apprentice toymaker, a spoiled young nobleman, a court jester and their companions as they search for the lost Princess Livia.

MARC ALEXANDER is a former Fleet Street journalist and a consultant editor of Heritage Magazine. For many years he contributed a regular history column to Majesty magazine. His books include The Outrageous Queens, Haunted Churches and Abbeys of Britain, Royal Murder and A Companion to the Royal Heritage of Britain. Marc lives in London.

Thanks! That plugged a hole in one of his series I'd snagged in that sale, but not the other. (I've got a private wishlist called "Missing Pieces" for just this purpose, to sort out which volumes I still need to complete bulk-buy sagas.)

David Duncan was not in the Open Road freebie if I remember correctly. I grabbed all the Sci-Fi ones and I did not have any to now. Thanks for blowing the rest of my book budget this month.

I didn't find any of his books either on the 1st day (12/17). However, on 12/18 I found a number of books I hadn't found previously by searching by author.

I got 14 Dave Duncan books on 12/18, along with more Harlan Ellison than I had found on the previous day. Either bad search terms or more books had been added.
