First a Canal crossing to get to Southampton, then the QM2 to New York, then a train trip cross America... That might work, if I didn't have work but won the lottery

Oh, even better:

Amsterdam to Fort Lauderdale on the Holland America Line, then a Panama Cruise from Miami to Los Angeles and then a trip from Los Angeles further north. One problem, even more time and more money needed (the trip from Amsterdam to Fort Lauderdale is 32 days as it will cruise the Mediterranean as well )

That's the problem, I love cruising (found out during our last trip, our Panama Canal cruise), but it's so horribly expensive. A trip from Southampton to New York is around $1500 for the cheapest option, and takes 8 days. So, a round trip will take 2 weeks and at least $3000. And then I don't even take into account the money to even get to Southampton.

Our plane ticket to Miamia and from Los Angeles was about $800. And took 12 hours each trip (total flying time).

I'll do you one better. Take a cruise to Boston. I think Massachusetts is a nicer place to visit than Oregon.

I suggest you take a few days in Boston to do some sightseeing. I think you'd enjoy it.

I'm not sure if I can call the meal on the plane food. But on the ship, yes, there is plenty of food and it's good food too. We are going on a ship soon and even if I put on any weight, I manage to get rid of it pretty quick.

In the end, I'll probably fly again anyway, some day, and just see it as a necessary evil.

We'll be on a plane to get to the ship. I'm taking my Surface Pro 2 along with my H2O. I'm hoping I'll have no issues. I'm not flying too or from any of the banned countries.
