I'm very excited to see the Onyx Boox max carta available for preorder. The resolution would give 209 PPI compared to 150 PPI on current 13.3" devices. Not to mention the faster response time (0.12 seconds in 1 bit mode according to the spec sheet or 8fps). For comparison this isn't so far off the iPad pro 12.9" at 264 DPI ~60fps, and compares well with other next gen eink devices like the reMarkable 10.3", 226 DPI and 55 ms response time 18fps (although that's just for updating a small area while writing) which could also just be vapourware. Now i have the dilemma of ordering the OMB Carta now or waiting for max 2?? I probably won't wait, as i've been waiting too long already! Will this ship with Android 4.4 as stated or is that a typo?

I would suggest to reintroduce pen colors (white/black) in scribble notes in PDF reader. This feature was removed in the last update but I think it is very useful to use white pen when you want to hide some parts of PDF (not the scribble, of course).

A dual or quad core cpu with faster clock rates would be fine.

The Max is fine but reacts sometimes a little bit slow. Shouldn't be that hard to use such a faster cpu. It has been used by average mobile phones for quite some time.

I don't think this is technically possible. We like our device thin and light and we like our pen big enough to be holded comfortably in our hand for long writing sessions, just as a normal pen would be and just as how it is now. And now, the pen is thicker than the device itself, so there's no way it can fit inside the device. Despite this would be very convenient, I would prefer to have a thinner device and the pen outside than the other way round. Even thickening just a little section of the device would be inconvenient, because then it can't lay flat on a desk and again the writing part would be quite uncomfortable.

Hi Desk7 were you able to make ADB work?
I tried all sorts of stuff on windows 10 x64 but still couldn't recognize Onyx Boox, although once I plug in my cell phone it's recognized no problem. I'm using newest firmware, official Android driver, developper mode blah blabh.

What is the secret?

Yes, I agree. I have my M92 (and EB60) with a thin pen, but the MAX has a bigger pen, a bigger pen is better to write.

Asked for a quote from Onyx through Alibaba for the Max Carta. They're waiting for the Hong Kong Electronics Fair to present the next Carta version of the Max. So little chance that the Carta release will be postponed!

I also have PocketBook 903. It has a 'hole' for the pen. Interestingly enough the pen also works on Onyx Boox Max. I would be very happy to have such small pen hiding into the case, plus optional big pen. I would not mind to make the device 2 mm thicker for example if needed. What matters is the weight not the thickness.

Actually, there kind of is. Toshiba solved it with their Encore Write2. No, you can't insert the stylus in a silo, but there is a silo for the much thinner clip you find on most pens (but usually not with a stylus). By inserting the clip in the silo the stylus remains attached to the tablet, and it looks a lot better than those pen loops.
