Looking for new E ink device with very white background, dark letters - Page 2

The whiteness of the background isn't the only consideration; with a Kobo it is very easy to adjust font heaviness on the fly, without having to embed tweaked fonts into all your ebooks.

I agree. The Glo screen should have been okay. I had an Aura HD that lacked contrast, but that was because of the front-light layer on a Pearl screen. I had a Kobo Glo HD and that screen was fine (it used Carta instead of Pearl).

AFAIK, the new range of Kobos are as clear as e-ink screens get.

I read on my Kindles and Kobos just fine. The Aura has one of the worse front lit screens ever made and it's still excellent. The difference in that and the Kobo Glo's contrast is small, but it as there.

Barry, I agree with you - as I was working with it last night double checking the screen, the battery died. Charging overnight did nothing. I guess it's been causing my screen problems.

Does anyone have the actual screen sizes on the One and H2O? I want to compare them to the tablet I have.

The one is a standard 6" screen. The H2O is 6.8". Both 4:3 aspect ratio.

Thanks HarryT, but I was looking for width and height of the screen. The H2O is 6.8" diagonal, yes?

Correct, and knowing that the aspect ratio is 4:3, a simple application of Pythagoras's theorem will give you the lengths of the other two sides. Given the fact that a right-angle triangle with sides of 3 units and 4 units has a diagonal of 5 units:

The shorter side has a length of 3/5 the diagonal.
The longer side has a length of 4/5 the diagonal.

Harry, the ONE has a 7.8" screen. Not a 6" screen.

The Aura ONE is larger than the H20.

Not that it makes much sense--but Kobo does a newer lighted 6" screen. It's the Kobo Aura Edition 2. They also have a 6" non-lighted reader--which is the Kobo Touch 2.0.

Just ordered the Aura One - I figured Harry was misspoken about the AO size. It was a hard decision for me - the H2O has an sd card, the AO does not, but I decided the size trumped the sd card. Thanks everyone for all your help.

Congrats peaceridge! I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy your new Aura One--I've had several e-readers throughout the years and due to it's size and screen clarity, it's been be far my favorite reader.

And mitigating the lack of sd card on the Aura One somewhat is the fact that it has 8gb of on board storage, compared to 4gb for the H2O.

Just out of curiosity, did you end up ordering from Chapters?
