One thing that frustrates me beyond belief about ePub readers is that so many of them think they know better than the book's publisher about how it should look. I completely get that many people do indeed want to impose their own choice of font, line spacing, margins etc, on the book, but for heaven's sake please give us a simple "Just show me the damned book as its publisher intended it to be!" option .

I never did find an Android ePub reading app which had this seemingly simple facility. iBooks has it on iOS, but not many other reading apps do.

I agree. The overrides need a way to be turned off. What I would like is to be able to set all the overrides to off and then I can decide which ones I want to use.

I agree too. I dislike those apps which are as bad as the publishers because they have a lot of options but no way to say: my book is fine, don't touch. For me, it's as imposing as the publisher set.

And in this case, the options can be rather limited like line-height minimum of 1.2em.

I agree. But isn't this exactly how MapleRead has been designed since v1.0?

In that case, MapleRead also needs fixing. eBook reading apps need to be able to show the ePub as it coded and not always with an override in effect.

Since MapleRead/BookMaster was first introduced, it always has the independent options "Apply Publisher's Style" and "Apply User's Override", and individual "P" (Publisher's value) for each of its Text Layout parameters, where you can choose to override one or more parameters or not. This capability exactly matches what you said earlier:

"tiReader 2 Pro" Free!

tiReader has released "a next generation" of the tiReader aptly named "tiReader 2 Pro". It will be free until April 30th.

They have also released a version 4.2 update for the original "tiReader Pro", and indicate that this will be the last update for the original program. Future development will be for the "tiReader 2 Pro" project.

The "page turn curl" animation is still there. I really like the app and hope that future development will allow the animation to be an on/off option.

Needs vertical scroll

The ambitious feature set and large number of readable file types (PDF and ePub in one app? Thank you!) means I'll keep in on my iPad so that I keep up to date on future improvements, but until the dev adds vertical scroll I just can't use it.

Thanks for this info...I just downloaded tiReader 2 Pro and will give it a testing later today. At first blush it does look pretty good!

TiReader 2 Pro is CRAP! When you open a book, it has to render the layout because it's changing the layout from how it is in the CSS to a small set of it's override values. So I am stuck with things like a minimum of 1.2 like height and indents on 10 or 20px. Might as well dump the indents of 0 in the CSS. Can't have those. And the section break character used cannot be centered because CSS IS'nt respected. This app is 100% garbage because it doesn't respect the CSS. Syre, allow overrides, but let my choose what to override and don't use stupid values on the overrides. This app needs to be rewritten from the ground up in order to work properly.

Obviouly you didn't test it at all or you would have seen the devistation it wreaks on your eBooks.

In all honesty, I have to admit that I didn't get get back to test or even take a second look at TiReader 2 Pro yesterday. I will save myself any frustration and stick with Marvin for now.

Marvin is still my eReader of choice. However, I definitely like the idea of one eReader for every format that I read. tiReader Pro can read:

EPUB, PDF, MOBI, AZW, CBR, CBZ, DOC, TXT

If/when the page turn animation becomes optional, tiReader might become my reader of choice. It meets my needs pertaining to setup, font and formatting options.

I also like the way it handles page numbering, but keep that a secret!
