Wifi issue?
Helo guys,

I jailbreaked my PW-2 several months ago and everything worked fine. Now I'm having a wifi issue and I don't know if it is because the jailbreak.

I can't find any wifi networks anymore. I tried to reboot but nothing happens. Only enters in 3G mode.

Can I just reset my device with the jailbreak installed? I will lose the jailbreak that way?

Yes you will lose the Jailbreak.

The jail break IS NOT your problem.
It is version 5.8.8 which is your problem, tell Amazon, and you will not be the first.

If you absolutely must perform a reset (say before Amazon will replace it), then install the Rescue Pack before.
With the Rescue Pack installed, you can fix the files damaged by the 'reset'.
There is a recent thread here on that very subject.

Ok thanks.

Just FYI I had the issue with 5.8.7 too... then I updated because I thought it will solve the issue but I was wrong. Sometimes I can connect to Wifi after several tries rebooting but a minutes later it only connect to 3G.

I seem to recall a similar report in the past few months, but I do not recall what the resolution was.

A bit of searching might turn it up, I think it was within the past 3 or 4 months, don't bother searching in the stuff older than that.

Hi knc1!I just wonder if you have any plan on jailbreaking on the the firmware 5.8.8.I just upgraded my KPW3 to it and unfortunately I could not jailbreak it anymore.

It is just too big a job for one (old) person.

If you really must, follow the serial port jail breaking instructions.

At this point the only way to do so would be to open the unit and access the serial port with appropriate hardware. This may change in the future, but at this point there is no other alternative.

Sorry, I missed that.
You wrote as if the device had been jail broken before the update.
It is still jail broken, you just have to re-install everything else.
Which is very normal for any Amazon update and has been for years.

If you've reset it, that *does* remove the jailbreak. Unless/until 5.8.8 is figured out, there is no jailbreak possible for it.

Barring perhaps (as mentioned above) physically opening it and mucking with wires.

Apology for the annoying question but I just want to be sure. And there it is, I have Paperwhite3 G090 G1 on firmware 5.8.5.0.2 and as I understand it can be jailbreaked following the procedure in the first post? Am I right?

Was firmware 5.8.5 released prior to 5.8.8?
