Nook Study finally fails

I have a computer still running XP that I use as a backup. Nook Study finally failed on that one. The last 5 books I bought from BN did not show up. Foolishly, I uninstalled it. When I reinstalled it, when I tried to log in, it said a network error. I managed to log out of Nook for PC and was able to log back in, but when I try to open the last book I bought, it asks for the name and credit card, which it never accepts.

Now I fear that it will fail on my Windows 7 machine also.

I hate B&N.

It is working on my Linux PC using Wine--unarchived, downloaded and moved to calibre using the tools an ebook--this is a fresh install of Nook Study from the day AWS went down.

I made the mistake of logging out of Nook Study last year sometime and I can't log back in. Nook for PC is still working on my Windows 10 machine though.

You can try looking in \users\**yourusersname**\AppData\Roaming\Barnes & Noble\NOOKstudy for the two files named CoreCloud_ForIndexing.db and CoreCloud.db rename them to something like old_CoreCloud_ForIndexing.db and old_CoreCloud.db. Then try to login again.

If it does not work then next try changing you password with B&N replete the above paragraph.

If it does not work then you might try again in a couple days.

B&N dropped support for both Nook Study and Nook for PC years ago (2013 I think).

For some, including myself, yes. Others have reported it no longer working for them.

A couple of weeks ago, I had the happy thought that I should use up the rest of my B&N settlement credit while Nook Study still worked.

My timing's not usually that good.

I haven't checked and maybe it's still working on my computer, but the handwriting's been on the wall for a while.

I still have a small part of my B&N settlement left. Once I use it I will not shop with them any more.

For those who have a Mac, Nook Study still works on El Capitan. However, it will not work on macOS Sierra. On Sierra, the app opens to a blank screen, and that's it. You can close it, but you can't do anything in it.

As long as Nook for PC works, I don't care if Nook Study will let me log in or not.

I don't buy from B&N anymore (except for the occasional freebie) since I don't get giftcards to use there any longer. Our company changed health insurance this year and the new one does not give out reward giftcards for their health and wellness program. The old one did and I'd get B&N giftcards to use on ebooks.

I have another XP machine that is still running and tried to work with Nook Study on that one - it could not connect to the internet either. The good news is that Nook for PC now works on the other machine.
gbn: which operating system was your suggested fix for?
