Nothing we do will help us locate the OverDrive options in Settings.
Should be in the settings pages between "Reading settings" and "Manage downloads". If it's not showing up (and you're on a current firmware, post what you're on to check) you want to check what affiliate your device is set to. In the .kobo directory on your device (if it's not showing, your computer is set to not show hidden directories), look for the ""Affiliate.conf" file and see what you're set for in there (there will only be one entry in it). If you purchased in the UK it should be set to a usable one, but if it was off the internet it may be set to an affiliate in a country without Overdrive on device available. You could change it to Kobo and see if that fixes it (make sure you use an editor like Notepad++ to make the change)

This may be a little beyond our tech know how... I'm on a mac, can't see any folders on the Kobo, nor find an option to unhide them, sorry.

Thanks for the replies so far everyone, really appreciate the help!

You are on an outdated firmware. See https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=284562 for the thread on the latest firmware.

On a Mac the .kobo file is hidden by default. You have to open the application Terminal and type special commands to show hidden files. If you search something like "how to show hidden files on Mac" then you should find a number of websites that provide detailed instructions on how to do this with confidence based on your level of computer experience. The instructions may vary depending on which Mac OS version you are using. Macworld.co.uk is an example of a reputable source for instructions.

After you can see the hidden folders on your Kobo, then you can use the application TextEdit to modify them. I would save a copy of the unmodified file version to your desktop if you are worried about messing it up.

Hope that helps. Good luck!

So our affiliate was RakutenBooks or similar. I've changed to Kobo and still no overdrive.

For whatever reason our firmware isn't synching to the latest version.

I have downloaded the new version to my mac, but can't find out how to save it on to the Kobo Aura ONE.

Could someone point me to a link or lay out some intructions? Is it also in the hidden folders?

Thanks again.

Don't get hung up on having the latest firmware (the one you have is pretty current) -- it's not likely to help your lack of Overdrive. The firmware updates are rolled out in a staggered fashion, so you might or might not get it right away.

One thought I would have looking back at the thread is that it doesn't look like you've tried a factory reset yet. It completely wipes the device and starts over with stock firmware. It might just fix something for you. Do a sync 1st if you have any Kobo books you've started reading on it, or make note of where you are in any sideloaded books because they'll be wiped.
You can find the factory reset in Settings, Device Information.

And to confirm: make sure you use the proper program to edit affiliate if needed (as Bookworm_Girl suggested TextEdit that's what I would try -- I don't have Mac experience so I can't comment further on that). The reason this is important is that a proper editor outputs in a proper format, while improper ones look right but don't have the proper coding in the output behind the scenes.

TextEdit should work. That's what I use to modify my config file. I don't use Pages.

Setting the affiliate from Rakutenbooks to Kobo should bring back Overdrive. It has for me in the past.

I have followed the advice to change affiliation from Rakuten
/jp to Kobo. This can be found in kobo directory. Open the only file with notepad and amend. Works immediately. Thank you
